Supporter groups gain reputation through action...not logos and motos. Yes you want to have a logo and motos you can be proud of but you also want them to represent who you are and not what other people are. There is a difference between reputation and image. Mobsters didn't gain their reputation by wearing images of brass knuckles on their sleeves. Im not trying to knock your motive to come up with a symbol that represents strength. I'm just saying that if you do want to be suggestive there are ways to do that while at the same time appearing more discreet.
Discreet is not a word that comes to mind when I think of the Mystics, The Cauldron, or The Hillcrest Syndicate.
I don't take it personal. I know a lot of you know each other personally, and I realize its not always easy to know the intent behind someone elses comments, especially if you don't know them. I'm just trying to throw out ideas like the rest of you, and give feedback on posts that seem to solicit a response.
Hey the_cyclones, I have an idea that is somewhat a mafia tradition (mafia as well as roman gladiator era)...Placing roses on the place of your rivals death. Only instead, for important matches, you could throw roses or rose petals at the other side. May seem dumb but it would be unique to Kansas City supporters. Actually, I'm prety sure no club in the world does this. Imagine the away side taking a corner, and all the Wizards supporters throwing roses and rose petals at the guy taking the kick, shouting, "Roses For A Dead Man," or something along those lines. This would also mess with an away keepers head. Then again I'm not sure if such a chant wouldn't be banned. Just a thought...
Maybe, but I did mention that it could be reserved for important matches only. If everyone bought a single cheap rose a few times a year it wouldn't be all that bad. For example, its far less expensive than throwing an octopus out on the ice before a Detroit Red Wings playoff game.
I know that local grocery store florists will occasionally run specials of bunches of 25 roses for $10 or so......
You can get roses cheap if you look in the right places. Not to mention you could probably go to a flower place and buy their dying roses or even get them free since you dont really need the best looking ones.
Yep... Several years ago, right around the time of the feud between Garcia and Ruiz, we were talking about ways to razz Ruiz - whose nickname is "El Pescadito" - and somehow the idea came up to hang a fish from a noose. Instead of doing a stuffed fish, I decided to call a local (in Wichita at the time) fish store and see how much it would cost to purchase a large goldfish. Somehow the conversation turned to sickly fish, and I procured a fish that had died of natural causes. It was smuggled into Arrowhead and hung on the end of a long noose. It made it onto Arrowvision, and even sparked an addendum to the rules for MLS Cup ("No animals, live or dead, may be brought into the stadium...") that year. It was awesome......
That was a hilarious story, thanks for sharing, I still can't stop laughing. Just the sight of a dead fish hanging from a noose is funny to me. God I wish I was at that game now.
That is legitimately awesome. If only they named rules for fans after the fans that caused the creation of said rule - like in the NFL. Could you imagine having a "Roush Rule."
For those who did not make it out the pre-season party on Sunday, 3/1, and would still like to formally become a member of Hillcrest Syndicate, here's what you can do: 1. Look for me or Kevin Shook at any tailgate. You can look for the vertical blue & white Hillcrest Syndicate banner...that will be near my Explorer...and I should be some where close by. You can fill out a membership form, pay your $20, and receive your window cling and t-shirt (your I.D. Card will be available at the next home match, since it will need to be printed). 2. Eventually, we will have the ability to sign-up and pay online at HillcrestSyndicate.com. Once we have that up and running, you can sign-up and pay there, then bring your receipt to the next tailgate to receive your window cling and t-shirt and I.D. Card. If you have any questions, feel free to post in here or send me an e-mail at President@kccauldron.com
Here is a preview of what the inaugural Hillcrest Syndicate t-shirts will looks like. All paid members of Hillcrest Syndicate will receive a shirt, along with the other benefits listed in a previous post. Thank you Adam and Nathan for your work on the first Hillcrest Syndicate logos.
For everyone who signed-up and paid their membership dues at the party on March 1, I will have your membership cards available at the first tailgate.
