His time for Europe is growing short. At 28 years of age, its now or never.

How many years are left on his contract? IIRC he signed an extension at the start of the season for a hefty raise - I would assume that it was at least a three-year deal, which would leave him with two years or a generous transfer offer to go.

Seems we both need to learn how to read, I thought clashcityrocker was asking if Wondo signed a new contract for next year.

    It was this quote......

Regardless of the years however, if they sell him, I don't think it will matter either way what the length of his contract is because he will be gone. Also, from what I believe , the team doesn't get the profit for a possible sale of Wondo as I think the money goes to the league. Thats not really good news for the Quakes especially if they can't find a comparable replacement.

Typical MLS contracts are 2 base years plus 2 club option years. I'm going to assume that Wondo probably has 3 years left on his new deal.

If Wondo is sold I believe the transfer fee is split 70/30 or 67/33%, with the majority going to the team and the rest to the league.

Maybe I'm mistaken, but I think that's it.

Isn't tomorrow's playoff game bad enough without talking about Wondo getting sold?

I saw that the Dynahum fans are scheming about how to get their greasy paws on our Wondo. Really? Being gifted our entire Supporter Shield team wasn't enough for you?

That's rich, considering Wondo was languishing, as an undiscovered entity on the reserves, in Houston when we obtained him! I tend to think that going back to play for the coach who didn't recognize his talent is rather far from his mind at this point, and I can't see even JD making a move this insipid...

Also, Wondo is pulling this off without a proper partner striker. In many games he was playing with Khari up top.

I wished him all the luck in the world on his facebook page. I just hope this cap won't screw up the Quakes as it did last time...

From the Soccer by Ives article:
Klinsmann addressed the call-ups to players like Gonzalez, John and Cameron in an interview on U.S. Soccer's website, saying:

"We have an internal ranking of players in each position based on how we want to play, and many of these players are next in line. The European-based players and the Mexican-based players aren't available, so this is their shot. Their goal has to be to move ahead of the guy in front of him in their position, and the only way they can do that is to show how good they are. This is a big opportunity for them, and at the end we will give them a straight forward answer as to where they stand."

I'd love to see that internal ranking. I'm really curious especially about the reference to rating players by "how we want to play". What traits are they looking for in each position? And how does Wondo fit the specific formula that they're rating against?
