Pirlo back early for Juventus By Football Italia staff Andrea Pirlo has cut short his Christmas holidays in order to prove his fitness for the Juventus-Roma showdown. The Italian international has been out of action since picking up a knee problem at the start of this month against Udinese. According to Tuttosport, the former Milan playmaker will be at the Vinovo training centre on Friday – two days before the rest of his teammates are set to report back to Turin. Mirko Vucinic underwent medical tests today after spraining his right knee in training. The striker had an MRI scan, performed by professor Carlo Faletti, and a medical examination at Turin's Clinica Fornaca, carried out by professor Flavio Quaglia. The exams ruled out any ligament damage but revealed bruising on his tibia and medial meniscus. Although no surgery is required, the Montenegrin forward is expected to be out of action for several weeks.

Tactics and strategy again formed the main ingredients of today’s workout, with Antonio Conte leading his men through several scenarios to be reenacted against the Gialloblu this weekend. Rejoining the group was new arrival Dani Osvaldo, now fully recovered from the flu, while Simone Pepe was forced to depart the training session early after reporting muscular discomfort in his left thigh. The winger will undergo medical examinations tomorrow.
