Juventus may be without Giorgio Chiellini in Sunday’s Serie A game against Napoli after he picked up an injury on Friday.

Sky Sport Italia claim the defender, suspended for the 2-2 draw against Real Madrid in midweek, sustained a muscle strain at Vinovo earlier today.

Vidal out for week with strain
    By Football Italia staff

Juventus have confirmed that Arturo Vidal will be out for a week after suffering a slight thigh strain.

The Chile international was pulled off during the Bianconeri’s win over Napoli on Sunday, and after medical test this morning, that club have revealed that the midfielder will be out for ‘seven to eight days’ with the injury.

Vidal will, however, meet up with his national team as they prepare to face England and Brazil in friendly matches.

    Pepe on the comeback trail
    By Football Italia staff

Simone Pepe is desperate to resume his career after going almost a year without playing for Juventus because of injury.

The versatile wide player made just one appearance for the Old Lady last term and that was on November 17, 2012, against Lazio.

“It’s been hard,” the Italian international told Sky Sport Italia. “To go a year without playing, for someone who is a footballer, is a horrible thing.

“To watch your teammates train for four months while I was out was difficult.

“I’ve been away from the field of play for 362 days, but I’ve only been missing from the Vinovo training complex on the days when I needed scans.

“I can’t think of quitting, though, as there is still a great desire. I did have doubts, I can’t deny that, but now there is a good chance that I will return.”

Pepe’s troubles started after he picked up a muscle tear in a triangular tournament during the pre-season of 2012-13.

“The summer before last I had a serious thigh injury which was resolved after surgery,” he explained. “Then there were complications.

“The club, from the President to everyone else, have remained close to me in this time. And the Juventus fans have been exceptional.

“I can’t tell you when I will be back, but I’m well now and I’m running. We’ll evaluate things on a daily basis and then we’ll decide.”

Barzagli limped off with a thigh strain yesterday and will not travel to London. He is expected to be ok for Livorno.

Lichsteiner is not ready and to add to our right side .....

Mauricio Isla, who returned to Turin this morning following his recent involvement with the Chilean national side, underwent an MRI scan at the city’s Fornaca Clinic upon his arrival. This revealed a medial collateral ligament sprain in his right knee. His condition will be closely monitored over the coming days.

Conte “I was angry seeing some nasty things written about Barzagli. He is an exemplary professional and this injury means he probably won’t be available against Copenhagen either.”
