As of yesterday, we were going to have the full squad at disposal with the exception of Pirlo, who is suspended. Now Vucinic has dropped out with flu-like symptoms during the night and will therefore miss out against Lazio.

Hasn't Vucinic had flu-like symptoms since the first Nordsjaelland match? Methinks something is foul about that. He might have a concussion that they're not leading on to.

Giorgio Chiellini sat out of training today as he continues to recover from a calf problem. The defender is steadily increasing his workload in the gym and is expected to return to full training over the coming days.

Simone Pepe was not involved this afternoon either after he felt a twinge in the back of his left thigh during the team's final training session before yesterday's game. The player underwent scans this morning which ruled out a recurrence of his previous muscle injury but revealed an inflammation of the scar. He will start training again this week and be available for selection only after a sustained spell working alongside the rest of the group.

Martin Caceres missed out on today’s double workout after reporting for training with a pain in his left ankle. The defender was given an MRI scan which displayed a notable joint effusion and a minimal ankle ligament strain. His recovery time will be assessed over the coming days.

Arturo Vidal pulled up in this afternoon’s workout due to an overload in his adductor muscles. The Chilean midfielder’s condition will be progressively monitored over the next few days.

Simone Pepe and Giorgio Chiellini continued their individual training regimes and are expected to link up with the rest of the squad shortly.

Juventus have warned Simone Pepe “will have to be out of action for a long time yet” after he suffered a tear to the same thigh muscle.
The winger has already barely stepped on to the field this season due to the left thigh strain, but had been preparing for a proper comeback.
However, today the club website released a statement confirming “Pepe will have to be out of action for a long time yet.
“Over the last few days, the player suffered a new muscular problem at the semi-membrane level of the left thigh.
“It is a I-II degree lesion in the area of the previous lesion, which had healed. To avoid further setbacks, he will have a period of complete rest and treatment, so will only return when his condition is completely healed.”

Antonio Conte has named a 19-man squad for Sunday afternoon’s visit to Palermo.
The manager, who returns to the bench at the Renzo Barbera after serving a four-month touchline ban, will be without the suspended Sebastian Giovinco and injured quartet Martin Caceres, Luca Marrone, Mauricio Isla and Lucio.
The Uruguayan defender and Azzurri Under-21 midfielder have both reported light discomfort in their right thigh muscles and will remain behind in Turin as a precaution.
Isla will not travel to Sicily after being prevented from training with the group due to a pain in his right ankle. His condition will be assessed in the coming days.
Brazilian defender Lucio returned to work on the training ground today and is expected to rejoin the squad over the course of the next few days.
The full travelling party is as follows:
    1 Buffon
    3 Chiellini
    6 Pogba
    8 Marchisio
    9 Vucinic
    11 De Ceglie

A fitness update on Bendtner, Vidal and Giaccherini following yesterday's Coppa Italia win over Cagliari.
Nicklas Bendtner underwent X-rays and scans today after being forced to leave the pitch with an injury during last night's game. The tests revealed a groin strain. The Danish striker will undergo further examinations over the coming days to assess the full extent of the injury.
After sustaining bruising in the first half of yesterday's cup game, Arturo Vidal had an MRI scan today which came back negative. The player worked out in the gym as he looks to return to fitness.
Emanuele Giaccherini did not take part in this morning's training session as he recovers from the gastric flu which forced him to withdraw from yesterday's cup tie.

Tests show Bendtner has suffered a lesion to the tendon of the left thigh muscle, which could keep him sidelined for up to three months.

Vidal also limped off during the Coppa Italia tie, but tests showed only a bruise to the right knee.

So it might not be that bad for Bendtner, unless the groin strain is a tear. Lesion does not sound good. Looks like Giaccherini just had the shits. He'll be back on the bench this Sunday.

Nicklas Bendtner has completed a number of visits to specialist consultants in order to ascertain the correct treatment for his injury sustained during last Wednesday’s Coppa Italia clash with Cagliari.
On Saturday the Danish frontman was visited by well-regarded Finnish surgeon Sakari Orava. This morning, in London, he was also assessed by Arsenal consultant Ernest Schilders. Both recommended the need for surgery.
The player and the English club, in agreement with Juventus medical staff, have decided to conduct the operation immediately. Nicklas Bendtner will therefore undergo surgery this afternoon on the long adductor tendon in his left thigh.

    December 20, 2012

This morning Giorgio Chiellini underwent an ultrasound scan at Turin’s Istituto di Medicina dello Sport medical centre.

The scan revealed a tear in the defender’s right calf. He will begin his rehabilitation programme, defined by the club’s medical staff, over the course of the next few days.

    Fears over Marchisio injury
    By Football Italia staff
    [IMG]
There are fears Claudio Marchisio could be out of action for weeks or even months after he was stretchered off with a sprained knee.
The midfielder picked up a knock to his right knee during the 2-1 defeat toSampdoria today, but carried on playing because all the substitutions had been completed.
He eventually collapsed and appeared to be weeping in agony, clutching his knee, so had to be stretchered off.
Initial reports suggest Marchisio has badly sprained his right knee and tests will be needed to ascertain potential ligament damage.
It would be a bitter blow for the Bianconeri, who have already lost Giorgio Chielliniand Nicklas Bendtner for three months.

    Marchisio tests show 'no lesions'
    By Football Italia staff

Claudio Marchisio and Juventus breathe a sigh of relief, as tests show “no lesions” to knee ligaments.
The midfielder bravely continued for at least 10 minutes after suffering a knock to the right knee, as there were no more substitutions in today’s 2-1 defeat to Sampdoria.
He eventually had to be stretchered off, but Juventus announced this evening that tests “showed no lesions.
“There is only a heavy bruise to the knee.”
It is great news for Marchisio, as ligament damage or even a sprain could have kept him out for weeks or months.
