Better players have had moments like that.
and near the end of the game...got a perfect chance..and he blew it like always. You just can't waste chances like this anymore...
But on other occasions he would put those away and he did just come back from injury. Overall, he is a very efficient striker. Today isn't a day to spend analyzing him.
what other occasions are you referring to? The game vs Chelsea or the 2nd game against RM. or is it going back further to the game vs Manchester United? or was it vs BvB in the cup final?
Well, the argument is that he misses sitters right? despite the opposition. That argument is hard to make because of the number of goals he has. The more chances a player has the more misses he will also have and Gomez is probably served more than any striker in Europe so that's just a natural reaction to the laws that govern football.
Plus it has to be considered that he isn't exactly back to top form and that he was dealing with possibly the best defense in the league in regards to handling aerial strategies.
Paolo. you can be very insulting with your emoticans. SPEAK YOUR REASONs
Which game/miss vs Manchester United?
aerial strategies?? Gomez hardly ever scores from the air. both of his misses coming from ground crosses and almost all his goals last season was from the ground. Gomez aerial game is non existence in comparison to LUCA TONI
yeah like this one. this is UNACCEPTABLE for any good player. They should go home and cry or better yet...count their money.
Repeat: I'm only joking dude
and I AM DONE until next game. next game when gomez plays. i will be back.
At least you have excluded Van Persie from the list of good players
So who's left
Cant wait lol, next game is in Augsburg, DFB Pokal, hope Gomez will be benched my friend ja
van Persie is the greatest one!!!!!!!!!
no worry he will score the 3rd, the 5ths or the 7ths goal..and as we all know any goal after winning 2-0 is not very important.
I disagree. Gomez's aerial game is quite good.
The idea that Gomez is not a clinical player in front of goal, which I'm hearing from some posters, is simply ludicrous. No one gets the kind of goal numbers he gets without being clinical. Everyone misses sitters. You wanna hate on a wasteful player? Go bash Gervinho. And to those questioning Gomez's aerial ability, it is tough to take you seriously when you're peddling stuff like that.
Gervinho..why would I give a fxxk about non bayern player and not even a bayern prospect.
and then..you say Gomez is good. Is he better than or as good as Roy Makaay? Elber? Luca Toni? C. Pizzaro? don't kid yourself now. The quality of Gomez is not comparable to these great Bayern strikers. Look at our midfield..we have the best or close to best midfield in the world and then look at Gomez...what drop of in quality between the two. Imagine what this Bayern team is capable of if we have Elber in front instead of Gomez.
of course, I am not happier either with Mario Manzukic, but at least he is way cheaper.
I was just giving an example of a extraordinarily wasteful player off the top of my head. And also, comparing strikers across time periods is difficult at best. What I can tell you is that Gomez is a very clinical striker; his goal numbers are right up there with the best. Gomez has You might say " any fool could get huge goal numbers with that service". Look at Torres at Chelsea; Hazard, Mata, Oscar is quite possibly the best AM partnership in the Primiership, but you don't see him with nearly the same productivity as Gomez. If you look at this link, there is a chart detailing Gomez's goals per game ratio and weighing it against other top strikers: http://www.grantland.com/blog/the-t...-tricks-for-sale-ranking-europes-top-strikers. A mediocre or wasteful or subpar striker doesn't have a GPG ratio only a little behind Messi or Ronaldo. Gomez may be a one-dimensional player (or not) but to say he's not prolific or good in the air or any less worthy of being a Bayern striker as those that came before him I would have to disagree with.
Your idea of goal per game ratio is a lot of weakness not addressed by simple statistical number. A great forward doesn't just score goals. He scores the important goals that change the course the game and actually win the game in must win situations.
so here are the weakness of simple number:
1. not all the goals are the same. Scoring against the bottom feeder and not scoring in the ultra important games is useless. If you look closely, the majority of gomez goals come from not important games or weak oppositions.
2. number of goals per game is not the full story of being a CLINICAL striker. Rather number of goals or shots on target vs number of chances ratio is the indicator of clinical finishing. Until the day such number is actually shown to me...I will forever doubt gomez's finishing ability. For example, the last game vs BmG. The ratio is 0/3. The 2nd game vs real madrid will be like 0/7 probably.
3. other weaknesses such as: low assist number, low dribbling capability, low foul suffered
4. other strength: coming back to defend, low profile, team player..so on.
The numerous confounding factors involved with Gomez will simply make the number of goal scored per game meaningless.
Blabla, Mandzukic didn't even have a single chance in the entire game. None of these chances was a 100% chance, they were all strongly contested and nowhere near a fault.
Gomez at least gets into those situations, Mandzukic on the other hand just didn't get the chances Gomez had is what I read after the match. *yawn*
well Bazi..to point out that you are quite correct I will say that I have never been happy with Mario Mandzukic. well initially, he seemed to be good..but now..NO. The most recent Joy I have had watching our forward is actually that game by C Pizarro.
