Re: Herculez Gomez to Puebla FC /R/ It was ruled legal by a court. Regardless, a 10-goal scorer should get himself a relatively sweet deal somewhere in Mexico City (Cruz Azul/ America) or on the continent.
Re: Herculez Gomez to Puebla FC /R/ in latin america, he is limited to Mexico if he wants a sweet contract. The only other leagues that may have money are Argentina or Brazil, but they are exporters and they'll never put him above their own. as far as europe goes, outside of England, he wont find a "sweet deal" most mid-to lower table teams don't pay much better than Mexico, in fact, some can't match Mexico's salaries. And, the mid-to high table tams wont hire him.
Re: Herculez Gomez to Puebla FC /R/ He'll do fine with a club like Depor or Zaragoza and those should be able to offer ~ $2M/Y to a quality free transfer easily.
Re: Herculez Gomez to Puebla FC /R/ Let's hope so. It sounds to me like he's been through and accepted a lot to get to where he is. He deserves a nice payday. Hopefully, he has a fine camp and makes the 23.
Re: Herculez Gomez to Puebla FC /R/ So, is it really a debate anymore? Does Gomez make Bob Bradley's squad? A nice discussion here, and a video of almost all of Herculez's Puebla goals: http://www.onelovesoccer.net/apps/v...rculez-gomez-does-he-make-the-world-cup-squad If Herculez does not make the squad at this point it was be a tragedy. First American to lead a foriegn league in scoring. Practically a goal a game. He's earned it. Rumor is he'll be back in the MLS--but whomever it is, please DO NOT play him as a farging winger like KC did--play him as a STRIKER!
Re: Herculez Gomez to Puebla FC /R/ KC wasn't the only one to do it. LA and CO did it as well, LA started it by moving him to the wing the season after his breakout season.
Re: Herculez Gomez to Puebla FC /R/ Apparently this guy is training with Chivas USA as per Raza Deportiva and a rumor that he might be helping Chivas Guadalajara in the Copa Libertadores.
Re: Herculez Gomez to Puebla FC /R/ Really? Would BigChivas take on someone who plays for the US internationally? How would fans react?
Re: Herculez Gomez to Puebla FC /R/ assuming he puts forth some goals that he did with Puebla, probably joyful But there were also rumors of Club America being interested in him as well... Personally i would rather see him stay at Puebla and see consistent PT rather then transfer to a deeper team in the same league
Re: Herculez Gomez to Puebla FC /R/ Exactly--everyone has been playing him as a winger since the last time he impressed and got an invite to the Nats.... Seattle did the same thing to Le Toux last year= play him out of position and then expected him to play like he did the years before.... Not all strikers make good wingers or midfielders.... Send that note to MLS managers....
Re: Herculez Gomez to Puebla FC /R/ I can't find any articles on this, but our friends rolleyes on the Mexican forums have heard from the radio that Herculez is on his way to AC Milan. https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showpost.php?p=20573956&postcount=73 https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showpost.php?p=20574537&postcount=76
Re: Herculez Gomez to Puebla FC /R/ Never trust an El tri fan, but a while ago didn't Herculez say that people wouldn't believe him if he named the clubs that were in contact with him?
Re: Herculez Gomez to Puebla FC /R/ Damn! That wasn't on my list of guesses! But that definitely falls in the I wouldn't believe category
Re: Herculez Gomez to Puebla FC /R/ I KNEW IT!!! I called it though, A euro' team would come after him after doing what he did. Mexico is getting a better and better rep for producing good goal scorers that can do well in italy, holland, or spain.
Re: Herculez Gomez to Puebla FC /R/ Benfica, like AC Milan, is a major step up. But one should not discount the no-non-EU limit leagues like the Netherlands or Germany. Spain also seems quite reasonable. Italy is a harder nut to crack.
Re: Herculez Gomez to Puebla FC /R/ After the acquisition of Gooch, I suppose anything is possible... However, AC Milan do not traditionally look towards North America for their strikers... No matter WHO is on a scoring streak. I would be pumped for Herculez if it did happen, but I'm hearing from my Italian brethren that this rumor is hogwash. I'm sending out feelers to all my friends in Europe and I have yet, however, to get a single solid rumor... But at the same time, Herculez probably isn't exaggerating when he says we wouldn't believe who's come knocking.
