Re: Herculez Gomez to Puebla FC /R/

It mentions that this weekend's game will be the last that the players of Puebla would play as a team. some players want to leave, because they want to take advantage of the prestige they've acquired to secure a place with a bigger club, and a bunch of others are like Hercules and el Pescadito Ruiz will finish contract, while a bunch of others more who are on loan will return to their teams.

It basically says that the Team that Chelis made up since they were in the league of promotion, (second division) and which he brought to Primera division and achieved to play offs, will be dismantled, and that the few players that remian, mostly u-20's will be lock up in the stadium, given a ball and will be told to give results, but without budget, credibility, basis, or belonging, (rough translation.)

Jeez! That sucks! Gonna have to read this article a little later.

Does it happen to say whether Puebla won their appeal to get Gomez's red card overturned?

    Re: Season over for Herc

I wonder, because of the gap between the end of the Mexican season and the start of the WC camp, if Herc will try and find a USL/MLS team to train with for the next few weeks to stay fit. He will want to stay sharp, so IMO, this is not a bad idea. It's not like he needs a lot of rest - the bicentanario was short and many of his appearances were as a substitute. What are everyone's thoughts on this?

PS - Scotty, thanks for the continuing stream of updates on Herc. It is most appreciated! (EDIT - I just tried to rep you, but alas must spread around some rep before giving it to you again!)

Becoming the first American to win the golden boot in Mexico and because most sports stars from the US are nonhispanic:(

And for this reason, as an American with no Hispanic roots whatsoever, I am very proud of Herculez Gomez as well.

What a spring for him. Hopefully the summer is just as successful.

I still wouldn't want this guy on the NATS, I watched some of his games and the defending he saw in the MFL is not going to exist at the International level. It would be a big mistake to put Gomez on the USMNT in my opinion.

So Mexico and the USA shouldn't use strikers from their domestic leagues?

As skeptical as I was of Gomez a few months ago, if Charlie Davies isn't fit, then the US will be looking for another striker. And the leading scorer in the Mexican league isn't a bad place to start.

Herculez won the title of top scorer of the BC2010 in a three way tie with Chicharito from Chivas (now in ManUTD) and Fano (peruvian) from Atlante.

By the way, this tournament had the top goal scorer with the least amount goals EVER!!!:D

at least Chicharito had an excuse:D

Amazing strike rate from Herc, this is a great story. I hope he shows well in camp, we need someone to step up.

He's training with Chivas USA for the time being. Where apparently Bob Bradley kills his free time.

what do they mean with "MLS rights" does he have a contract or not? Don't tell me the MLS has the same ungentlement's agreement the Mexican league has, cause I will lose the little respect for the league I've acquired recently.

Well, it's not a gentleman's agreement, but actually part of the way to league operates. In other words, it's written rule, not an unwritten rule.

I still hate your sig. ;)

that sucks... and it's got to be unconstitutional. If they give him any beef, he should sue.
