Re: Herculez Gomez to Puebla FC Herc scored a diving header, his sixth of the campaign vs. Monterrey's B team (Libertadores is this week). Arriba el Monterrey
Re: Herculez Gomez to Puebla FC Here are highlights plus Herc's goal that comes around :30 mark. Enjoy! [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SagVsOp92Ns"]YouTube- Puebla vs Monterrey 1-1 Torneo Bicentenario 2010 Jornada 10[/ame]
Re: Herculez Gomez to Puebla FC Monterrey may be resting a few players but it's an exaggeration to call this their "B" team - especially since teams like Monterrey have official reserve teams that play a full slate of games. I recognize about half the names in Monterrey's lineup from their championship games last December.
Re: Herculez Gomez to Puebla FC Starters that didn't Play Jonathan Orozco Luis Perez Aldo De Nigris Dulio Davino Walter Ayovi Hector Morales Starters that came in as subs Neri Cardozo Osvaldo Martinez Sergio Santana Monterrey probably has the deepest team in Mexico, so their reserves are pretty dam good and could start for a lot of teams.
Re: Herculez Gomez to Puebla FC Dulio Davino doesn't count. BTW, Vic Vucetich is a pretty decent coach. El Chelis ... eh ...
Re: Herculez Gomez to Puebla FC An interesting bit o' trivia: http://www.soccer365.com/us_news/story_16310232040.php
Re: Herculez Gomez to Puebla FC A goal every 52 minutes, not too shabby. I still find it interesting that the man he usually replaces in the lineup is none other than that famous ex-MLS veteran Carlos Ruiz, who I think only has a goal or two at most this year (in a funny twist of fate).
Re: Herculez Gomez to Puebla FC And if you go beyond the recent streak and look at his complete stats so far this season: Minutes played: 486 Goals scored: 6 He's averaging a goal every 80.5 minutes.
Re: Herculez Gomez to Puebla FC Gomez Scored again against Club America how long till this guy gets a call up? I mean lets face it our striking options are pretty thin at the moment
Re: Herculez Gomez to Puebla FC goal was a fluke, they good note is we wont have to worry about Ochoa turning into a world class goalkeeper with that screw up and the screw up against NZ, the guy is becoming a joke.
Re: Herculez Gomez to Puebla FC Regardless he's still scored 7 goals in 12 games thats nothing to sneeze at
Re: Herculez Gomez to Puebla FC Bradleys been in contact with Herc http://www.noshortcorners.com/2010/03/gomez-reveals-usmnt-contact.html
Re: Herculez Gomez to Puebla FC He has at least earned a look. You can say some of his goals have been flukey or lucky, but at least he's been in the position to get lucky. Bob has to keep him in mind given the problems we have at striker.
Re: Herculez Gomez to Puebla FC Thanks for the link Herc. Seltzer picked up the phone and followed-up on the article and realized that Bradley did NOT in fact speak with Gomez. Read more about it here: http://www.noshortcorners.com/2010/03/clarification-herculez-gomez-quotes.html. Don't know what this means in terms of the 30 man roster.
Re: Herculez Gomez to Puebla FC Unfortunately though is WHEN do you give him a look? This of course assuming that Bradley announces his roster before the next friendlies. (I really don't know what the case is, but the overall feeling I get from the players quotes, is that this is the case)
Re: Herculez Gomez to Puebla FC The 30-man provisional roster has to be announced near the beginning of May. Until basically right up before the first game, players can be added/dropped from the final 23. Bradley will probably call him in for the pre-WC camp, see how he looks, and decides whether or not he wants to give him a run-out during the last friendlies.
Gomez hopes to catch eye of Bradley http://soccernet.espn.go.com/world-...z-gomez-lights-nets-mexico?cc=null&ver=global
