I don't know who was ultimately responsible for the signing of GBS, and I doubt any of us will ever know the full, unadulterated story. It was probably a combination of factors, the largest of which I'm assuming was dumb luck.

But that's in the past, and as much as I hate being a "what have you done for me lately" kind of guy, nothing McCullers has done for the last 48 months has given me any confidence in his ability to run a successful sports franchise.

I am not all chummy with MM, but I don't have beef with him.

Working in the service industries most of my life (restaurants, shipping, and now military logistics), one thing that is so true, the customer has the power to hire and the customer has the power to fire.

The argument for getting rid if MM seems to be because he is letting RW run the team into the ground.

Do we even know if MM has the authority to fire the coach. I thought HSG was the final (and only?) say as to coaching hires and fires. And I do not believe MM is heavily involved in player acquisitions.

I'd say 90% of MM seems to be running the business. And there is no doubt in my mind that he has done a fantastic job at that.

So, either I am ignorant because I think HSG, not MM, has the authority to carry out the firings people seem to want. And those people that HSG won't fire are the ones responsible for player acquisitions.

Or, Skeleton Crew is ignorant because he thinks MM wields these powers and is not simply the business and PR mouthpiece for the franchise.

And from personal experience I know that I am least three feet smarter than Skeleton Crew.

Blame/credit Bliss and Warzycha for player side (Obviously, McCullers and HSG have final approval.)
    Blame/credit McCullers for business side

Based on past conversations, it seems like two signatures are needed to fire a coach.

    HSG
    Crew President/GM

I know some of us remember that when Andrulis was virtually on his way out, McCullers wanted him gone, but couldn't do anything until Lamar (HSG) got on board. (Some "Sack McCullers" chants were heard, as a result of a few people thinking it was entirely Mark's decision. A very impromptu post-game meeting with a few of us helped to clarify things.)

3 feet around sounds about right. So to understand intelligence is directly proportionate to our weight?

No wonder we have the smartest fans in the MLS #cornfedMidwest

Weight? What are you talking about? I am simply talking about our intelligence. You know like when you take those an IQ test to measure your intelligence. I was measured at a 142 feet, you camein at 139 feet. Ipso facto I am three feet smarter than you.

Exactly....he has a very good sports business mind and should still be the president of this club. The crew as a business has done nothing but improve. However his title is president/GM and that GM part is questionable.

I think it was in the Dispatch that reported McCullers flew down to Argentina and personally talk to GBS about why he should come to Columbus. It was Sigi that had a mutual contact with GBS and that's how the Crew got wind of him not being happy at Boca. I am pretty sure it was the same blog post or article in which Robert's famous commented on how GBS practiced.

I think it was this year McCullers increased the Staff to help with Season tickets. I know for a fact that they have sold out the Field seats this year, and from the looks of it they are thinking of increasing it to the Other side of the Stadium. I have seen them put seats near the Visitor's benches are located. The next game you go to look around at the Suites and see if they are occupied, I am pretty sure that they have only 2 that are not sold and the crew require a multiple year contract.

I think they keep at least one of those suites for an individual-game basis. The other may be for players' wives and families, or the same purpose as the other. They may also be the partial-season rentals that I heard about.

Speaking of the suites, I was in one recently and liked what they did. They're QUITE a step up from the days of two open-air "boxes" per section.

Yes you are right they have the Party Suite (holds 30)which is next to the VIP terrace and The players wives and kids sit in the VIP terrace.

I did get a chance to at a round table discussion ask why the Upper 90 Club did not have more Crew memorabilia. I know I have more hanging on my GameRoom wall than they do.

Anybody know Why we don't do this?

The one at the top of stairs between 124 and 125 (in 125) is where Hesmer and the other injured players hang out. They used to do the balcony off the offices (was in there once for a game as an award), but I've seen the gang in there on a number of occasions.

It's funny how some people were giving McCullers credit for the on-field success, and now 2 years later he is only responsible for the business side. Must be on the take.

Just to clear up McCullers on the field performance.
He didnt become Pres/GM until 2005.
Cant really give him credit for a supporter shield and a Us Cpen cup but i do find it interesting to note that McCullers was responsible for GA being fired (and rightly so) but 100% for the appointing of one RW as interim coach that same year. I wont call it nepotism cos McCullers isnt Polish but,...

He was a VP and stadium GM (which is a glorious event coordinator)

Look, I'm fine with prodding fun at one and other on the forums based on the content of arguments, but abusive personal attacks do not have a place in these forums. Let's focus on the topic at hand, please.

This place has gone to hell. (Can an attack on the forum be considered personal?)
