This board is the only place in the entire internet that I've read the term "drone" in relation to football.

What the ******** is "drone football".

 

I could go into it.......but it's a load of crap to be honest.

 

The first rule of drone football is never talk about drone football.

 

If you had spent a little more time actually reading posts and educating yourself instead of arbitrarily targeting certain posters with ridiculous warnings, infractions and censorship...

DS was a nutcase. Which is why we all loved him so much. They say there is a fine line between genius and insanity...unfortunately for all of us, DS fell on the wrong side.

I'll never forget that visit to the asylum.

 

I'm serious.

I've always been a supporter of defensive football as a means to success. Chelsea isn't a side than can do that much more at this stage. They do what they can and it's great.

 

Only problem with those posts is romanticism of traditionalism. "Drone" players a result of changing of game, not the cause of it.

 

LOL, his insights were "I objectively hate Chelsea". Because he admitted to objectively hating Chelsea. I did enjoy the argument that Mourinho's Chelsea ruined Paulo Ferreira and Ricardo Carvalho as entertaining footballers. Hah! It's not "great insight", it's just vitriol. You'd think Helenio Herrera had never existed.

 

DS is bitterly, bitterly missed. *

Actually, I criticized them from the middle of the pitch, so to speak, on multiple fora. If I recall correctly, that series of posts was from a thread regarding his "objective" hate for Chelsea. DS was a very good poster, but when Chelsea was involved, he tended to periodically lose it.

Part of that was the change of Chelsea's image. For about 10 years, to the rest of England, especially United, Chelsea were a pleasing diversion - we signed foreigners with fancy names, played attractive football (Zola!) and could be routinely counted on to gallantly snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory. That's why everyone liked Ranieri for example - he seemed like such a nice bloke who made daffy substitutions and finished 5th. When we suddenly developed a different attitude and started winning, suddenly things changed

Anyway, I'll leave you to pine for DS' return - you're already scarred from having to watch that first leg this evening

You forget - Jitty has in the past labeled Mueller the drone-in-chief.

 

I genuinely don't see what separates Willian and Muller such that one is symptomatic of everything that's supposedly wrong with football, while the other represents some sort of dying breed. And I'd suggest players of Kroos' ilk are a rarity because he's an exceptional talent, not because he's fundamentally ill-suited to modern football.

 

I was more referring to people who poke fun at terms like "drone" without even thinking about why it's used or what it means, purely because it doesn't jive with them.

Oh and trust me, I'm quite aware of the whole Chelsea situation from back in the day and I'm not going to dig up those skeletons.

And do try to be a bit more entertaining next time. I've had more fun getting an endoscopy.

 

Anybody else miss the attacking CL rather than this defensive tactical bullcrap

I miss DS, whatever happened to him? His posts, along with Jonathan Wilson and zonalmarking were the only way I truly got a tactical feel and appreciation of the game when I was an impressionable youth...

 

He got old.

As did ROM.

It's a well known fact, that old people lose all interest in everything but growing veggies in the back garden, and shouting at whippersnappers to get off their lawn.

 

He will when we appoint the next manager.

 

I've gotten old but still enjoy wasting my time on here. I'll send DS an email and see if he wants to come on here just to annoy nicephoras. DS and RoM have gone back to their wives.
