If Section 8 are ever going to plan a HauptmanOut TIFO I'd be willing to contribute some money for supplies.
In the ESPN piece, Twellman said the Fire, in his mind, are a top-5 MLS club. No question under Hauptman we are not a top-5 anything. LA Seattle Portland KC Redbulls As of right now, are we even in the same discussion as these top-half teams: Philly Montreal Vancouver RSL Houston ?
I would say Philly deflated pretty well with Nowak's self destruction. I'm not sure they've fully bounced back. Houston seems a bit flimsy. I'd say we're in line with those two.
I would put us and Philly in the last spot and move RSL up a bit. Otherwise it's about right. BTP podcast nailed it. We are a forgettable franchise the likes of Colorado or Dallas. A non entity when the team is out of the hunt or playing bad football (or both)
Though Philly may be debatable (for me, canning Nowak was a good move for their future), Houston is clearly a step or three above the Fire on the food chain and in that second tier.
Philly and Houston both have over 90% of stadium capacity this year. It's been a long time since the Fire had a single game at 90% capacity never mind an entire season.
Tell me yesterday's game (and end result) isn't a metaphor for the Fire under Hauptman... One step forward, two steps back.
This is how far the club has come under dollar menu leadership ...losing 2 points at home is norm ...
