This news via "Soccer is a Kick in the Grass" radio show this evening....Hamilton,ONT,Canada could be a new USL-PRO market very soon.
That would be interesting. Do you know if they do a podcast of their show? I wonder if the new USL / MLS agreement had moved them towards USL as opposed to NASL. Or maybe they just don't have NASL size checkbook.
How bad do you think a team would be if it were to be comprised of players not good enough for Toronto FC?
This 'situation' hasn't changed for some time. Firmly stuck in largely baseless speculation. Feel better now that you have been updated?
Here's someone that sounds like he's speculating as well: http://blogs.canoe.ca/reds/sports/toronto-fc-inching-closer-to-usl-pro-affiliate/
When has the truth ever deterred the USL blowhards from flat out lying. There is very little chance of the CSA changing its mind on not sanctioning USL Pro clubs. The CSA is notoriously stubborn, even when faced with a good alternative (not saying that the USL is that). Of course, the USL dopes are now saying they are 'unofficially' second division, so maybe they think that the Canadians are dumb enough to fall for it. Who knows
That's what makes the Payne remarks so odd, you'd think that if TFC were exploring this (seriously at least) that he'd know by now if this had any chance from the CSA side. Otherwise why spend time on Hamilton at all? Then again, it's TFC and if we've learned anything from them is that they will do what they will do, even if it's not going to work.
Toronto FC may have a USL Pro partner in relocating Toronto Lynx http://www.wakingthered.com/2013/8/...toronto-fc-lynx-partnership-tim-hortons-field
That part is very interesting, looks like the CSA is not going to stand by their no D3 Canadian teams ruling. That would be good news for USLPRO and the other Canadian MLS teams.
I could see the CSA approving MLS owned developmental sides in the USL Pro, because that is a logical extension of already sanctioned clubs. The article doesn't say it, but I wonder if TFC would have an ownership stake in the Lynx.
Very interesting development. will be interesting to see if Vancouver does something similar (on a personal note, the developing partnership the Battery and Whitecaps have seem to be very positive so far)
Interesting read, the company proposing to put forward 2Million in financing is Humaniterra Hldg Ltd, a company in China, according to a google search. No info on a Canadian Company of that name I could find.
Just saw this today. The Toronto Lynx announcing they want to move to Hamilton. http://www.thespec.com/sports-story/4036673-toronto-lynx-looking-to-come-to-hamilton/
Missed he post that was earlier in the thread about Toronto. With the whole ban of outside leagues, I'm pretty sure that was under a different leadership group that is currently in charge of the CSA. I think until they are ready to form their own national league or regional leagues they will encourage pro teams in both of the US lower divisions (NASL and USLPro). Why, because it helps one of their short term goals of increasing the breadth and depth of their player pool for the national team. Also more players playing and training in a pro environment also increases the skill level for that pool.
Except Richmond's like, been successful and stuff for years without having anything much to do with DC United. It was a joke, obviously. Toronto's never been any good at all, and a team consisting solely or principally of players not good enough for them wouldn't be a team of very good players, necessarily, but wouldn't have to compete against MLS players. They could, conceivably, be quite good in a lower level, like, oh, I don't know, to choose an example completely at random, the Richmond Kickers.
Toronto Lynx wait for verdict on potential move to Hamilton http://www.wakingthered.com/2013/9/...uncil-october-23-tim-hortons-field-toronto-fc Looks like we'll have a pretty good idea or not if this is happening late next month.
