Zardes has been spotted training/trialing with SC Freiburg in Germany: https://www.bigsoccer.com/community/threads/gyasi-zardes.1948840/#post-26854912
Don't know if this has been posted. Don't know what to make of many of these goals as the defending really poor.
To me Zardes just seems like the kind of kid that's going to go abroad. Let's remember that he turned down a ~100k Gen Ad offer last year. Ives reported that he was looking for more in the region of ~200k, which MLS rarely goes to for these types of GenAd players. I believe Danny Mwanga may have gotten close to that. One thing I do know is that Zardes will never play for any USYNT from here on out. Not because of eligibility, but because of age.
Yeah, I think he's one that will go on trial after trial in Europe until he finds something, unless it's like 2nd division Sweden. Wouldn't mind seeing him end up in Denmark or Belgium if/when he signs abroad.
Ives Galarcep @SoccerByIves Should be noted Gyasi Zardes has interest in Europe, and at least one offer on the table from Bundesliga side. MLS just might lose him
Is the offer a real offer; or a reserve side offer? That's the question. The guy will be 21 next year, gettin' late for reserve ball.
Isn't reserve ball essentially first team members who don't make the 18 or do make the 18 but don't play. They're both for first team professionals. I don't think he's signing a youth contract at age 21.
So does everyone here think it's a good idea for Zardes to move to Europe? I mean, wouldn't it be a good thing for MLS to keep some of its young talent?
It would be a good thing for MLS if they sign Zardes. If they do not sign Zardes, MLS will still be keeping the lion's share of young domestic talent.
Signs with the Galaxy. http://www.lagalaxy.com/blog/beat/2012/12/19/zardes-sign-homegrown-contract-galaxy
