I checked in for the second half... lively end-to-end stuff from both teams, though Fulham has the majority of possession. Richardson put Fulham ahead in the 65th with an unstoppable blast from the 18. Guzan was helpless. Other than that, Guzan hasn't had anything to do.
69' 2 yellow cards in the last 10 minutes, both to AV. One high boot and one that I missed while my stream was down. and Fulham let one in off a corner. Hangeland completely blows it, getting pulled out of position and missing a clearance header by a mile. Holt takes advantage and it's 1-1.
OMG what a block by AV. A sure goal stopped after a Fulhan breakaway. The goal-line technology confirmed that about a millimeter of the ball was not across the line. Premiership survival may come down to that millimeter. AV charges down the field and forces a sprawling save. This is a very exciting game.
81' a penalty non-call for AV. Announcers bemoaning that that was a foul anywhere else on the pitch. Guzan saves AV's bacon on a breakaway. Action just too fast to keep up with. Corner comes to nothing.
2-1 Fulham, Rodallega. Holtby fk is crap but AV gives it back cheaply. 2 passes and a cross, Rodallega heads it bottom corner from a crowd. Guzan helpless again.
and immediately AV gets a decent chance that they put well wide. Fulham still have time to lose this.
Fulham trying their best to give AV an equalizer with some lazy defending but they eventually get a goal kick. And the whistle blows! Fulham 2-1 Aston Villa. we are staying up...we-are-stay-ing-up we are staying up...we-are-stay-ing-up
On the YA side, Guzan hardly touched the ball at all. One nice save, 2 times left hanging by his defense. Neither goal was stoppable.
I said a few months ago that if they could keep playing the way they are, they'd be fine. I apparently underestimated how horrid their defense is, but I still say they play attractive soccer and it would be a shame to see them go. WTH happened to Hangeland?
