Great goal. Strength on the ball. Makes the run from within his own half. Knocked off balance, but he stays on course. Runs with pace and power directly at the goal - no flicks and no tricks - and slots the ball past the road cone with the pony tail nice. Road cone with the pony tail - has been making me chuckle all day. Traffic cone. Thank you Cold Sea.
PFA Player of the Year http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/27076251 It will be interesting to see who wins this. Suarez is a decent player - but he is a racist scum bag who bites people and his fellow professionals may not like that Luis Suarez Steven Gerrard Daniel Sturridge Yaya Toure Eden Hazard Adam Lallana Young POY Sturridge Hazard Raheem Sterling Aaron Ramsey Ross Barkley Luke Shaw [for the transfer thread: which of these young homegrown/English players should Chelsea buy?]
Can't see anyone but Suarez winning POTY, unless his reputation completely distorts voters' opinions on his performances this season. From the players I've seen, he's right up there with Henry and Ronaldo (in 06-07) in terms of all-round attacking dominance as far as domestic campaigns go. I'd have Toure second, I think, and Hazard third. Lallana is a good player, but he's extremely fortunate to find himself on that shortlist. Silva should be there ahead of him. Until they change the age requirements the Young Player of the Year Award remains a bit of a joke. One of Hazard or Sturridge to win it. Hazard's been better, but Sturridge might benefit from the same British bias that saw Lallana nominated for POTY.
Agree with this. If you want to see a real comedic gem. Look at Michael Owens Premier League team of the season. What a fecking joke.

Watching Barca-Real, I was even more thankful we have a manger who can organize a defense and keep his back line focused on their job, rather than haphazardly bombing forward. On the first Real goal, when Bale received the ball at midfield to start the counter, all 10 Barca field players were still in the Real half. Great skill on Benz' pass and DiMaria's finish, but it was the easiest counter imaginable due to the complete absence of defenders. Similarly, while Bale's run at the end was an incredible piece of skill and determination, one had to wonder where the RB was on that play and why the CB was all alone trying to run with Bale from midfield to goal. Its hard to believe that team dispatched City so easily.
Bartra should have committed the foul and got a yellow. Not to take anything from Bale for his pace but that was total clown defending. Rounded off by the ponytail who may not even have been there.
I said before on another thread that, on the bit of film I saw, immediately before Madrid get possession of the ball, (on the 84:00 minute mark IIRC), it's 7 vs. 7 in Madrid's penalty area. SIX minutes of normal time remaining in a cup final, you're drawing 1 - 1 and you've got 7 players in the opposition penalty area, matching them man for man? I'm sorry, is that meant to be funny??? I know we all like to say we want attacking football and all that and it's true but the thing is, football's not like basketball where you're supposed to win games 150-140. Teams are MEANT to score DESPITE the defence... not BECAUSE of it!!! For me, that's just poor play. To be fair, it's not like he didn't try Although, having said that, Bale scored another goal in a friendly against Iceland in pretty much the same style where the guy tried even harder...
