THE semi-finals and final of the 25th GCC Clubs Soccer Championship have been rescheduled for March and April, the GCC Organising Committee announced yesterday. The decision was announced after a committee meeting at the Bahrain Football Association (BFA) premises in Riffa which was chaired by committee chairman and BFA president Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa. Shaikh Salman said the changes were made due to the commitments of the GCC soccer associations with its local competitions. During the meeting, the committee also discussed the time table of its 2010 programmes.

Qatar SC are the first Qatari side to reach the Gulf Club Championship final since Al Sadd in 1991! The competition has generally been dominated by Saudi and Kuwaiti clubs since it's inception in 1982. Al Wasl of the UAE meet Al Nasr of Saudi Arabia in their first leg semi final later this week.
Last year 5th and 6th place qualified, but that was because Al Shabab whom came 4th in the league won the King's Cup to qualify for the ACL campaign. So i guess it's between Al Shabab (4th), Al Wehda (5th) and Al Ahli (6th) depending on whom wins the King's Cup.

Al Wasl will take on Qatar SC in the fianl after defeating Al Nasr on penalties this evening. The game finished 4-2 after extra time and then Al Wasl went on to win on penalties 4-2. So, this year will see a new name on the cup. Al Wasl previously made the final in 2005.
Ha ha ... man I was even happier with this than with Al-Hilal's win today. And to think that the winning penalty came from their former player Elton, just days after their president was boasting about how he made the right decision not to renew his contract last year.
So guys, anyone know what the Nassr physio did to get his ass kicked? [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U4cSyjKcU3Q"]YouTube- ??? ???? ????? ?? ??? ?????? ????? ?????????‎[/ame] Also... In the words of Silky Johnson: "Now that man right there I'd hate to fight..."
he technical committee of the Gulf Clubs Championship has decided to postpone the final of the competition after Saudi club Al-Nasr protested the result of its match against UAE’s Al-Wasl. The committee, after four-hour-long deliberations, decided to seek FIFA opinion on the issue. The match, which ended in a 4-3 shootout win for Al-Wasl after a 4-2 full-time score at Al-Wasl Club Stadium, witnessed unruly scenes as a few Wasl supporters jumped into the field before the end of the first half of the extra time. The conferrers disagreed over article 12 of the competition’s regulations. Qatar and the UAE said Omani referee Abdullah Al-Hilali had played out the match and thus the result should stand. The Saudi representative, Faisal Abdul-Hadi, was of the opinion that the result should go in favor of Nasr. The Omani representative refused to vote. Article 12 indicates that a 3-0 result must be imposed against the team whose supporters enter the field and stop, delay a match or cause interruption during the match. - SG
In my opinion the result should stand. If it was abandoned by the ref then there would be a case - but it wasn't so surely the result should stand. FIFA, i assume wold stand by the referee and his decision to play on with the game.
