to tell you guys da truth im a lil worried,,,simply because America was a playoff team yet they conceded a shit load of goals,,,Ajaccio is startin from da bottom, its gunna be very tough for Ochoa
I would argue that he has a decent defense in front of him, hence thats why they got promoted. He'll be ok.
37 goals against last season. Second lowest in the league for Ajaccio. Ligue 1 is a whole new ballgame though.
AC Ajaccio had a pretty good defense last year, well organised and solid, corsican teams also has the reputation of always going in 110% in every tackle and duel. That said their salary budget last year was the 3rd lowest in Ligue 2 and if the 16M euro budget for this season is correct that would give them even a lower budget than Arles-Avignon last year who only managed to win three matches last season. That being said Ajacio were able to stay up three season earlier in the decade with a similar budget and Corsica is notorious for being a hard place to get a result even for the bigger teams and with the extensive academy system in France you can put together a pretty decent team with players who for various reason couldn't quite make it in bigger clubs and if the key foreign signings such as Ochoa works out the smaller clubs can always surprise. Well to summerise the random rant, I don't think Ajaccio will be concede that many goals, especially at home but it's hard to see how they are going to be able to score much. If Ochoa could help them stay up or put up a valiant effort I think you could call it a success. Either way the transfer is seen a major coupe for Ajaccio in France and I think most Ligue 1 fans are excited to see how it turns out.
Ochoa seems very happy in Ajaccio. Here are pics of him signing his contract and a video of the most recent interview. pics http://www.ac-ajaccio.com/images/upload/photoplus640.jpg http://www.ac-ajaccio.com/images/upload/photoplus641.jpg http://www.ac-ajaccio.com/images/upload/photoplus642.jpg video http://www.ac-ajaccio.com/photos.html?rbk=4841&idpht=4840
First pre-season match tonight against Bordeaux at 18:30 C.E.T. Next one is on the 19th against Bayonne and then Real Sociedad on the 23rd.
I don't think the game tonight is broadcasted on tv, it's part of a of a pre-season tour in the south-west of France and is being played in pretty small tourist village by the sea (Biscarrosse). It's live on radio at http://www.goldfm.fr/ but in French obviously.
well from I read is that Ochoa was at fault for the 2 goals...not sure because of defense since I read that tidbit before going to the market.
