As I watched Manchester United's game yesterday I came to realization of how lucky Chicharito is. Lucky in the sense that he went from a smaller league but was fortunate enough to be bought by a top club with very good service that would create a lot of chances for him. Chicharito is a better striker than Jozy, but I don't think he's "leaps & bounds" better, he's just had the fortune of being put on a good team. I'd wager that if Chicharito went to a Sunderland-esque team, he'd be considered a flop like Jozy because he doesn't create for himself. For Jozy's sake, I hope he can get away from Sunderland whether that be a loan or a transfer.

As much as I am not a fan of Mexico, and the vast vast majority of Mexican players, Chicharito is in no way, shape or form lucky that he was signed by Man U. He is extremely talented, hard working and a very good goal poacher. Luck had nothing to do with him getting signed by Man U. There is a reason the best teams are the best teams, and the not so good ones stay not so good. The best teams sign the best players, have the best facilities, have really good scouts who find great talent. Altidore was not rated as highly as other strikers before his move to S'land, rightly or wrongly. Chelsea didn't want him. PSG didn't want him. Athletico Madrid didn't want him. Swansea wanted someone else. He went to the team that wanted him, based on how his talent was rated and his value. Sure it would be nice to see him get a chance to play with a midfield stacked with Hazard, or Xavi, or even Gareth Barry for christ's sake, but he wasn't deemed talented enough for those better teams to want to sign him at his value. There is no luck involved here.

What happened once he got to Sunderland is up for debate and the truth that led him to his current position will likely never be completely known, especially outside of the team, so it really doesn't matter. But to say that a player like Chicharito was lucky to play on a team like Man U is just patently wrong.

He's been a goalscorer at every level. Clearly if he would go to a club like sunderland his chances would go way down but to doubt that he would do well is dumb when he has delivered goals at every stop

We are laughed at initially by the hapless victims because apparently we're a joke, but we're lurking in the shadows, ready to pounce on the mistakes of other teams and cut out their guts for the television audience. I like that role better. We are not in a group of death with Germany, Ghana and Portugal. Germany, Ghana and Portugal are in a group of death with US.
