Drove by Greyhound Park the other day on the way to ASU. It's closing, which some of you may know.

Does anybody think that location might not be too bad a place to put a small soccer stadium? It's in Phoenix, the city (apparently) has no plans for the land - which they own - at the moment, it's got boatloads of parking, the light rail goes right by it, and it's convenient to the airport (couldn't get much more convenient, actually).

Of course, there's a swap meet on the grounds and you'd have to actually BUILD the stadium and you still have the weather issue, but as I drove by it, I thought there are a lot of worse places you could try to put a stadium. And the city's not exactly overburdened with new ideas at the moment, maybe it's worth looking into.

I think that is a wonderful idea also now that you mentioned it. I have gone by there many times on the lightrail.

I'll pitch in $10 to the "Phoenix Rising Land Purchase for a Stadium" fund!

Are there no grandstands there currently? The old Colorado Foxes played in a converted dog track their last couple of years or so, if I remember correctly. It seemed to work out okay, except they were competing with the Rapids for fans the last year, and ended up moving to San Diego.

PHX Monsoon??? what kind of name is that?

    Logo from that site ugly.

About getting soccer team..yes happy to see that but please don't use the red color and the log half looks like Marruecos or China flag.

I don't get this about USA, all teams need to have a funny name.

Coyotes, Dimondbacks, Suns, Lakers, Cactus, etc.

Why not just Phoenix FC or FC Phoenix?

I like Monsoon. I grew up here and remember the power of those storms as they would roll through the valley. We still get them though I believe the weathermen have a new name for them.

Welcome to America. We have our own culture and yes; we love our funny names.

And why Juniors? Seems to me you'd rather root for Boca Seniors. Sounds more prestigious, less funny.:p

Because FC is about as exciting as "Sliced Bread." Besides, the only FC in that area is the Cardinals.

American Teams, American Team Names. ;) Want FC? Watch EPL.

We are the monsoon because we need to sell t - shirts and hats (available soon)! nop one buys a Phoenix basketball shirt do they?

As far as the greyhound park very complicated lease issues YOU CAN NOT BUY IT because the city will not sell it. But in a recent meeting with a member of the council (to go unnamed) leasing is apotential option to discuss over time.

Don't forget us BIG fans. I'd wear more jerseys & shirts if teams offered XXL.

    Go Monsoon maroon!

Yeah, I am a large, but I only buy XL, simply because it seems like every shirt I buy shrinks, so it makes more sense.
