As promised, I have scanned some old ASL/APSL programs so you young whipper snappers will see what the original Rowdies looked like in their dying days. 1988 Home - No color pictures, but the kit was mostly white with green trim/printing and yellow collar. I was mistaken, white socks, not hooped, were used this season. BTW, for those of you who have such a fierce 'rivalry' against the Orlando team we have never played, that is the old Orlando Lions. Or is OCFC the same club, so we have played them? 1988 Away - Green with white trim/printing and the yellow collar. Overall, they had a good feel to them. Missing the classic socks sucked, but overall it was a nice design. The colors were pretty true to the old NASL uniforms.
1989 brought minor changes to the Nike uniforms. I only have a photo of the home one, but they were essentially the same as the 1988 versions except they changed the yellow collars to green (home) and white (away), plus the famed hooped socks made their only appearance in the ASL era. That is the Washington Diplomats in red.
1990 brought an Ajax clone kit from Umbro. The color was now a lighter green with white socks. Both white and green socks were worn, but I believe they used just this shirt that year. That is the second version (not the same as the NASL Strikers) of the Ft Lauderdale Strikers pimping the mighty WinnDixie on their chests.
1992 and 1993 brought a fairly stylish looking home Umbro kit. I do believe that is the Toronto Blizzard in red and white.
1992 and 1993 away from Umbro. About as plain as it gets. At least it had a collar That is Perry going up for the ball during the 1992 APSL championship.
I forgot to post 1991. The only photo I have is from the 1992 program. The home kit for 1991 was the Umbro green diamond getup in the middle. I never saw an away game, so I don't know if the yellow shirt was the away shirt or if it is a training shirt. Notice that the Rowdies wordmark is in blue on the yellow shirt. Look at Ricky Hill before the grey hair.
Or, as the new club's erstwhile PR director once referred to them, the "infamous hooped socks." Because that person was an idiot. These are great, thanks.
Our nickname is the Lions, and Mark Dillon does have (ancillary) connection to the club. So if you choose to connect them, so be it. Personally I like having that connection to the past. I don't have the 1990 APSL records, but I do know the Lions were 2-1 against the Rowdies in both 1988 and 1989. In fact, Steve, you got your first of five goals in 1989 on a PK in our second 1989 meeting.

Are the 1990 records anywhere on the web, Kenn, or did you just have that on-hand? The A-League Archives has very limited 1990 APSL records.
