I think it was on free. He's very very very injury prone.. he'll be lucky to play half the season injury free.

I guess only his salary. As far as I know, Aurelio´s contract with Liverpool expired. He had some injuries and didnt play much, but he is a lot of quality. If he can avoid injuries, he will be a great asset.

never heard again of the subject. Last time, was before the Champions League final. They had said that if Bayern was the champion, it wouldnt face Grêmio because of the Club World Cup, so Grêmio was in talks with Hamburg SV.

Hamburg was the second choice because Grêmio was world champion in 1983 playing against Hamburg (which was UEFA champion).

Plus, Grêmio was founded by german descendants and immigrants in 1903, I guess thats a reason to play a german club in the stadium innaugural match. (my state is full of german descedants... the name of my city is Novo Hamburgo).

Anyway, Bayern lost the CL match to Chelsea, so we thought the match was all set. But then the vice president said it was not exactly like that, Bayern still had to confirm, needed authorization from the Bundesliga or something like that.

So in fact, I guess we gremistas are the ones who should be asking if you guys have any news :)

ps: below, the match flyer of the first game between Grêmio and Internacional. Check the name of the players, referees, etc.

Yes, the problem will be the DFL, which make the match dates. Next week they will publish the plan for the next season.

Would be great to have the opening game!

    P.S.: Some Germans, yes ;-)

Wow that game was crazy against Palmeiras , did i see correctly that kleber hit henrique in the face? I was shocked when the ref only gave 5 minutes extra time.

Edit: Got my players mixed up. Disregard comment.

Still a crazy set of events. What made the defenders so upset?

the unjust red card to Rondinelly.

and also the fact several players were fighting (or almost) since the beginning of the match.

Also, it seems there is another camera angle where it shows that Edilson was punched first. And after the ref expelled Edilson, he talked with the linesman (who saw the whole thing) and also red carded the Palmeiras player.

as you can see, they were also fighting after the match, in the way to the dressrooms

Henrique went to pick a fight and punched Edilson in the arm, then Edilson punched back in the face.

very unfair red card. Foul from behind, yes, but without any violence. The Palmeiras player more tripped on Rondinelly than anything, plus there was no clear danger of goal since there were Gremio players coming in front, to the rescue.

finally, ridiculous refereeing the entire time.

lol no surprise here, Fábio Aurélio is going to spend the next 6 months sidelined because of torn knee ligaments.

    Terrible move by Gremio..

well, at least Grêmio didnt pay Liverpool anything, and it seems it was a risk contract, where Aurelio agreed to earn a very small sum while injured.

Hi Sohn. Unfortunatelly, due to the fact there was such big indefinition by Bayern München, they needed to wait until September 3rd to see if the German Federation would change dates, etc, Grêmio saw the need to activate plan B.

Grêmio president Paulo Odone confirmed today that the adversary at the Arena innauguration will be Hamburg SV, which was Grêmio´s adversary at the 1983 Intercontinental Cup.

The deal is already even signed according to Odone (while with Bayern Munchen there were only talks, no signature).

speaking of the Arena, some new photos
