Same stuff popped up with BB with people claiming Bradley said that no club time, no call-ups and he wasn't holding to his word. Of course Bob never said anything that black and white and I doubt Klinsmann did either. A coach is going to do what he wants to do and isn't going to be worried about what fans think his policies might be.

I'll see if I can find the exact interview, but I seem to remember him saying that he wasn't interested in players not playing for their clubs or only playing for a small portion of the year (I believe related to the shortness of the MLS season and encouraging those in MLS with national team aspirations to train abroad in the offseason).

We still, still need more CBs. At this point, I don't see the USA advancing out of the group phase in Brazil with our current CB crop. Just not good enough.

i agree.....but we should have never had to be brave. Gonzo, Besler, John, and Okugo should have been given shots by now. Now we will have to be brave, or start a central defender that got dusted by a fat Carlos Ruiz.

There are certain mistakes that Klinsmann has made that I think you could argue or defend, but the way he's handled the CB pool is not one of them. It's our undoing, and he continues to stay the course.

I think at best Gonzo will get a chance (meaning minutes not starts at first), no one else until after "starring" in gold cup.

Does anyone really think that JK doesn't think there's a problem or does think there's a problem but doesn't want to improve our CB situation? I'm concerned as well, but could it be that JK actually has ideas and is working on it? Perhaps he gave Cameron to get settled by giving him a good run out with the guys that have been playing CB for us for some time before moving to rotate guys into the second CB position? He's got, what, a year and a half to sort out the second CB position before the world cup?

I thought that the one guy that could have been called (and who I would have thought would have been likely to have been called in) but wasn't was Besler. I wonder if there is something going on there, that JK didn't see enough from him in his call-up? I am also wondering why Edu didn't see any time there during the game.

This problem became even more obvious today.

    1. Cameron needs a partner heading towards 2014
    2. Goodson is done, so that means a new "backup" as well

    Two new CB's at least.

I'm a huge Gonzo fan, but he is not going to be perfect, or even good enough for the usual critical crowd in BS, for awhile. He has some awesome physical skills and a great attitude, but his game is still maturing. If coaches and fans are willing to have patience with him, he could be good for many years. Otherwise, just let him dominate for his club(s) for awhile instead of jeopardizing his confidence.

Gonzo needs a faster player paired next to him to mask his weaknesses. He and Cameron could be a very good pairing, and I expect to see it the next time it makes sense.

Fast or someone who reads the game well. AJ has been a good compliment to Gonzo. His strength is more reading the game

I agree that Cameron to me seems like the best pairing.

Going a little further down the list I like Demerit because he's proven at the international level, even if he is old. He's not one for the future but I'd trust him a lot more as a short term option than Goodson. I also like Pearce as potential back up for Cameron as a more mobile CB and cover at LB in case we have another LB injury disaster like we had the couple games before this one, having guys who can play multiple positions to fill out the roster can provide a lot of flexibility with limited roster space.

Besler seemed like a obvious option once Gonzalez wasn't available.

do you guys really think JK is going to call new defenders for qualifiers? Lol, the same defense you saw today is going to be played until the gold cup comes along.
