I recommend 3 points for first, 60 points for second, and 1 point for third. That seems fair to me.

We need more votes. The top pantheon goes to tiebreakers as it currently stands.

I've always been fascinated by the concept of a hummingbird representing the god of war. That was going to be my top deity no matter what - well, I am sort of a fan of John Frum, but he's embedded in a pantheon, so that's enough. :)

Thank you, thank you. Now when people claim I don't know anything about gods, I can simply point to this thread.

Except the people you generally argue with don't much cotton to trickster gods.

I'm impressed that you bounced back after that little Xenu setback.

And I'm just happy that the god I voted awesomest did indeed win awesomest.

    I'm happy that Thor lost.

And I'm disappointed that Ahura Mazda, the ur-god of all Western monotheistic creator gods, didn't get more awesome support. My other two picks were classic representations of a saviour-god (John Frum) and evil (Satan).

As for my pantheon picks, my top two choices (Ismitje and spejic) went to people who tried to give their pantheons an overall coherent character. My third choice went to a.s.f because his pantheon, although not exactly coherent, had a really nice diversity of different kinds of gods from different places all over the world. Maybe they weren't the most fearsome or wondrous as some others, but they were all different and interesting and for some reason that pantheon struck me as balanced and strong in a way that others (like my own) were not. That said, a.s.f.'s pantheon was not the most novel one out there. :p

I picked Norsk Troll's pantheon primarily because I liked the way he presented it, in terms of examining the needs of human beings and how they translated into the worship of the particular deities that he picked. I thought that was part of the awesomeness of his picks, even though others picked individual gods that in some cases were more awesome.

But I can understand spejic winning. His pantheon was cool.

Anyway, here's a little something in honor of our consensus awesomest goddess of all.

I think everyone did a good job. I certainly learned a lot about human cultures in this thread, both from my own research and from all the posts. This really was an intro to religion course, but more entertaining.

Well, I'm done arguing for the time being, so that's ok.

Incidently, my method of voting was to give every god a score out of 10 and add up all the scores for each pantheon. Karloski, benztown, ponch and spejic were the clear top 4, with spejic missing out on a podium finish, although in the end he didn't need it.

Would just like to point out that my Pantheon finished 6th, without any god/dess getting a single vote for the solo awesomeness competition. Now THAT's a case for the whole being greater than the sum of its parts. My pantheon - the hardest working gods in the universe. All substance - no flash.

And my pantheon finished 10th despite 5 of my gods and goddesses getting an awesome nod. I don't want to talk about it ... :(
