I've been looking with little success for a short sleeve youth goalkeeper jersey for our team. The local stores have a very limited selection especially of youth keeper gear.

Anyone out there have recommendations of what and where to buy a short sleeve youth keeper jersey? Should I just forget the goalkeeper part and get a short sleeve jersey that can be used by a goalkeeper?

It almost seems like torture sending a kid out there in a long sleeve keeper jersey in a 100 degree tournament game.

I've looked at ScoreSports, Dicks, and any number on online merchants but I'm not convinced. There are a lot of Uhlsports Jerseys out there but they tend to be pretty expensive.

    Thanks

That's what my last couple of goalies have wanted. But I've also used long sleeve, in fact I now have two long sleeve keeper jerseys and a dozen old uniforms that all serve. I wouldn't worry about it too much, until your kids are diving, I don't think they are needed. I use Score jerseys for my teams, and they seem to be the best for the buck. If you want your team to look more "uniform" you could choose one uniform and select another color for your keeper jersey.

We just use vests most of the time. Our one keeper uses a short sleeve player jersey of a diff. color for her player jersey.

I just did a search there not hard to find. But what does seem hard to find is a dark shirt with a big yellow spot on the chest. I like those because players look at the yellow dot and the ball seems to find it's way to that big yellow spot. Why who knows but it does :)

If your team has an alternate jersey or practice shirt, just go with that. Or just get a cool tie dye t-shirt and let the kids 'personalize' it with some sharpies

Yes, most short-sleeve "goalkeeper" jerseys are no different than any other soccer jersey out there. There's no special cut, or material or anything that goalkeepers need. The only requirement in the Laws is that it be a different color than the teams. Buy whatever looks sharp and fits your budget.

The only reason long-sleeve keeper shirts are special is that they often have elbow padding. But even then, some don't and are pretty much standard long-sleeve shirts. And IMO any other "special" features you find (like rubberized grippy dots on the chest or something) are just gimmicks.

    Thanks everyone.

I ended up getting a couple like this

from Ross for ~10 bucks a shirt. I think it is nominally a tennis shirt but looked good as a keeper jersey to me.

I'll vouch for Ross too as a great place to score soccer gear. I just scored a Spain replica jersey there for $20 (still had the tag on it for $75). National team replicas. And mine has a great selection of Nike and Adidas soccer specific shorts. Usually 20-$30+ and I get them there for about $10.

Sorry you need a new avatar, what with the club demise of RvP, but you gotta do better than the default....

Meh, in time. Players come and go. It was a fantastic season for him I wish him the best. I support Arsenal more for style of play and Wenger's management than the players.
