I love how pissed off smokers get when smoking is banned in places they frequent. It's almost more entertaining than sport. I can't wait for the next smoking ban.

Smoking is insidious, smelly, expensive and stupid. Smokers are so addicted that they can't see the harm they are doing to themselves and how annoying it is to non smokers. Ironically, they can't smell how bad it is but us non smokers can. I can smell a lit cigarette outdoors from 40 yards away. Nicotine controls the brain of a smoker. It's a horrible habit. I lost my dad when he was 63 to smoking and my mom is on oxygen. Happily for me, I never started this filthy habit. Am I passing judgement and preaching? You bet I am.

Smoking is insidious, extremely unhealthy, smelly, expensive and stupid. I can smell a lit cigarette outdoors from 40 yards away. Nicotine controls the brain of a smoker so they always find a way to justify this habit. That's not true, I know the harm I'm doing to myself, I see the expense, and I personally want to be corralled off from other people. I want it to be like Fenway, a 10 minute walk from my seat, out of the stadium, and across the street. Solutions have been suggested (ie use the unused pedestrian ramps going up) and I'm fine with those.

The problem is that if smoking is outlawed, than only outlaws will smoke...and instead of us all being penned up in one little area, there are going to be dozens of people finding smaller, secluded areas away from team ops to get a puff or so.

Those ped ramps aren't unused during Pats games when they have a packed house. I doubt they want to create two sets of rules for their two teams. Oh wait...

I'm assuming the parking lots will still be an area where smoking is permitted, so that won't hurt smokers during tailgating. As for in game/in concert, if you really can't go a couple hours without a nicotine fix, grab a tin of Skoal, a bag or Redman, or a piece of nicotine gum. For the record, I'm a non-smoker who doesn't get offended by smoking in outdoor public places, or decisions by private entities to create and enforce smoking bans. I don't like the government getting involved, and I am actually glad that if Kraft Sports was going to do this, they did it themselves and weren't forced to submit to some kind of decree from on high.

For the record, I'm a cigar smoker, and I actually agree with this. Well said.

I don't mind cigar or pipe smoke at all, and they aren't nearly as insideous to me. I also, used to on rare occasions smoke a cigar to celebrate something or on my boat. I never developed a tobacco addiction from it.

I can see a lot of folks getting chucked out on August 4th (double header), 5-6 hours can be a LONG time for a smoker.

And that, illustrates the magnitude of the addiction.

There will be tobacco smells emanating from the bathroom stalls for sure!

As Achowat states, I would much rather have them secluded in an open air area than exposing unwanting others in an enclosed environment. Now instead of being confined to an avoidable area you all get to enjoy your fill of 2nd hand smoke when you need to take a piss, aren't unintended consequences great? :D (unless of course you actually believe passing a rule, or law, stops people from doing things)

They better get rid of all that fried food and trans fats at Gillette too.

Oh wait, nevermind. Screw your health. They can actually make money on that.
