Are you honestly comparing Turkey to Somalia? As usual, you baffle me. Turkey is a beautiful country.

Only you are more likely to have your Caucasian head chopped off in Congo than anywhere else, pretty much.

I thought you were talking about in futbol terms. Definitely more to Turkey than just Istanbul in traveling sense. Although Istanbul is absolutely immense so naturally makes everything other than Rome and Lisbon seem like crap.

I dunno if Ukrainian fans can relate but it seems like a large number of Russia's top athletes are complete headcases.

Nah, I think in general we like our athletes more workman-like.

It depends on personality and upbringing.

For a briefest of times I was invited, around 1998, to spend some time among the Russian Florida Panthers players. At that time, the Russians basically ran the Panthers (everybody knew of Russians in Detroit but few people knew that Russian diaspora in the Panthers uniform was equally significant).

I found out that Pavel Bure was a total head case, while his brother Valery was far more approachable. Viktor Kozlov was just one of the guys, he could just sit down and have a long discussion and a drink with a regular guy like me. In fact, i was even in his home (very briefly, however). Oleg Kvasha was a big partier and not a very smart guy. There were also Novoseltsev and Shvydkyi, but I met them too briefly to have an impression.

I guess, you can not just trivialize everyone.

I remember watching the Panthers heavily during the short Bure era, and Valeri was a pretty good player too. You'd be hard pressed to find a big man with Kozlov's hands btw.

Captain of Ukraine set to leave for Russia, bad fever dream. Capt. of Dnipro, the Ukrainian stronghold in the east, after the patriotic moments we had this spring, can't believe he's leaving to Russia while we try to qualify for Champions League. Unreal....Ukraine only knows pain and suffering. Always some bullshit happens.

Choosing to play for Rubin doesn't qualify as a proclamation of treason. Contract talks stalled, things probably did not mesh with Markevich, and where else is Rotan going to receive adequate playing time against decent competition?

Plenty of Georgians playing in Russia with no problems. But Sheva can't separate all of this from footy.

Adequate playing time? He's 2 years from retirement. Clearly went there for the money like Devic. Could of stayed on a solid pay at Dnipro and retire in 2 years, but wanted more money. True scumbag that sold out, especially in a year when Dnipro needs him the Champions League.
