    NewsCorp's SKY Deutschland fend off a bid from Deutsche Telekom to retain most of the domestic media rights to the Bundesliga in Germany.

    ==

    Qatar Media avoided Germany like the plague, as there was no strategic or political reason for Qatar Media to be involved.

    The German market had been a graveyard for pay TV outfits that held rights to the Bundesliga. Germans in general avoid a-la-carte premium subscription pay TV channels. SKY Deutschland hasn't made money yet. SKY Deutschland has just over 3 million subscribers, which translates to a penetration rate of less than 10%.

    The 4 season package for the Bundesliga(TV, Internet, etc.) sold for ~2.5 billion €, that's a 52% increase from the previous 1.65 billion

    Heard on 'Football Weekly' from Rafa Honigstein, this deal is for both BL 1 & 2, and that roughly speaking each team should expect an increase of 40% from TV revenue. Example: Bayern, who earned 28M, will earn 40M when the new deal becomes effective, not in the big times just yet.

    Hope some better coverage comes to DirecTV next season.

    Just GolTV live when they feel like nothing better on, or delayed if there is.
    And SD of ESPN Deportes.

    Too bad 1. BL @ 9.30 ET Saturdays conflicts w/ Premier League 10 starts, but surely there is a better answer/network.
