In all fairness, the title was always a bit tongue in cheek. Not really meant to single out this generation as some kind of savior. If you guys really dislike it so much though I'll gladly change it.

I really do! It reminds me of "10 world class players plus Rooney". Hardly any "Golden Generation" has ever won anything "golden", it's more of a jinx than anything!

When it comes to bling bling, I prefer platinum and diamonds anyway...

Well, it implies that Rooney is beyond the "world class" label, obviously. Duh...

I don't really think it's wrong to call it a golden generation, even at the risk of jinxing it... I mean, in the birthyears '88-'90, there seem to be as many talented AMs/wingers as in 20 previous years put together. And that's not even assuming too much further development of those players.

We don't need 'golden generations', every generation should be 'golden', that should be our benchmark! :)

Re: German NT Youth Discussion Thread "The Golden Generation"

this team is muuuch better than our current U20 in Egypt.

Oczipka, Rausch, Schorch, Gundogan and Schürrle are first team regulars for their clubs. So they won't be available anyway.

But players like Testroet, Bäcker, Yalcin, Jantschke and Ekici were "bring-able" to Horst since they're all playing for their clubs' reserve teams atm.

    These players are good prospects.

Really eveybody? I saw Terrazino, yes. But Tosun and Perdedaj, too? Thats nice, but its not really the most important thing to me to sing the anthem. More important: They played a really nice football, the 3-0 was absolutely excellent. Perdedaj seems to be a really good ad-on to the team, should be a alternative for the new Hertha Coach Funkel. Very agressive player. Terrazzino also strong. Kroos also always well in the National Team, unfortunately he cant transport it to Rotock

Does Terrazzino play mostly in midfield these days?

I think Felix Kroos' goal drought can be explained. He isn't a targetman , and he's is more of a second forward liek Cacau. I hope the Rostock fans can have the right expectation

Anyone watching the U-21 match against Slovenia?

Starting line up: Sippel - Schwaab, Hoewedes, Badstuber, Schmelzer - Hummels, Hegelar - Sam, Kroos - Mueller, Schieber

1:0 so far, goal by Schieber, set up by Hummels.

Re: German NT Youth Discussion Thread "The Golden Generation"

yes, all of them. Will be interesting to see if Tosun will also sing in 3 days against Turkey. ;) But the tendency is visible that also turkish immigrants start singing the anthem. Aydilek did it, Tosun did it. And as far as I could see it, the U15, U16, U17 players were singing too.

Imo Perdedaj was man of the match. He really adds something to the team.

    looked like this today:

    --------------------Bussmann------------------
    -Koronkiewicz--Neumann---Schneider--Radjabali--
    ----------------Perdedaj---Hartmann------------
    ---Clemens------------------------Terrazzino----
    ---------------------Kroos-----------------------
    --------------------------Tosun------------------
