Er, Possibly because Big Soccer is an English speaking website. And though many may know German, the vast majority do not. As a matter of fact, English may even be a second language as we have fans from South America, Asia and other corners of the world. It is not forbidden by any means and you'll often see news articles or interviews in German. There are plenty German speaking forums that cover the German NT. This isn't one of them. Lol...how come every time some says this, you know they are. And, Yup...you are. Who fuckin' cares if his parents are not Hitler's youth product! It is 2012, not 1939. Do you really give a shit what the English press say? He was born here, he was brought through our youth developing programs (U18, U19, U20 and U21) and plays for the German Champions, not Galatasaray. He is German...and I would be proud to have him represent Germany, especially if it helps us win our 1st title since 1996.
I can only laugh about this. Gündogan is so German. More "typical German" (© SAF) than many other people in this country. And yes, you're a racist.
That's something I thought too lol. Watch Khedira, Gomez, Özil or Gundogan in interviews - they are through and through German.
I guess Gomez is "ok" to the German mater-race hunters because he is still "white". Phil Schoen from GolTV said last weekend when we had Sahin, Khedira and Oezil all start foir the 1st time together for Real Madrid, "Sahin joins his Turkish-German brothers Oezil and Khedira in the line-up..." I was like this;
Lol, I know what you meant...I was just throwing that out there. You never hear this "group" saying anything about Gomez. At least not as much as Oezil, Boateng, and Khedira.
Dont worry, Guendogan wont play much for Germany in his career even if he becomes world class at club level and that's because of Schweinsteiger,Kroos and Khedira who are still young and have a lot of years ahead of them. Plus, there is Moritz Leitner as well coming up in that deep lying midfield position and Sebastian Rudy has a lot of potential too.Plus, Bender bros and not to mention Emre Can and Leon Goretzka who are very highly rated but you probably wont like them either because Emre Can and Goretzka dont sound very German.
Khedira = Tunisia Can = Turkey Gündogan = Turkey Leitner = Austria Rudy = Wales Bender = Futurama Schweinsteiger = Republic of Bavaria Kroos = DDR

Well, you could also say: Every 2nd name in the Ruhr area sounds polish . Lots of Koslowskis, Polanskis, Kaminskis etc live there, but most of them don't have anything to do with Poland anymore. Goretzka either as far as I know. Those names are German by now.
Besides Gomez none of these sing the national anthem. Özil was born in Germany, that's fine. But he doesn't sing the anthem AND doesn't speak fluently proper german. So no, not through and through German and DEFINITELY not more German than most Germans
So what? Germans happen to speak better english than most americans..........does that make them more "american" than americans?
So, because the education system in Gelsenkirchen did not allow him to speak with the same flair as Angela Merkel, that makes him less German? Lol...it's funny because it's true...
Gomez didn't sing the anthem during Euro 2008. So, if I understand correctly, he wasn't German back then and afterwards when he started singing the anthem (for superstitious reason), he became German? LOL.
He forgot to sing the anthem at his first youth national team game and scored 3 goals in that. So he continued like that and never sang the anthem...until....you know it... [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gL4tOiCPfzs"]gomez unser held - YouTube[/ame] I'm not joking here, he said it himself in an interview.
I'd like to think Nationalism is an outdated mode of operation in the 21st Century. It has to be the way cultures are mingled together, especially in Germany. Then why should anyone be forced to partake in something that represents an outdated ideology? If one wants to sing it, fine, if one doesn't, he shouldn't be held accountable for lack of national devotion. That's silly. I wouldn't want to sing it either to be honest and that is simply because I think it's an outdated and irrelevant tradition that doesn't relate to me whatsoever. I would go as far as saying the anthem should be banned from games altogether.
Then why have international games at all? Isn't playing for your country just another example of extreme nationalism, especially when you consider the selection protocol involved. Why is singing the national anthem antiquated but playing for your country isn't?
