Do you have to contact Lothian and Borders police to let them know your whereabouts when you re-enter the country...?

The great thing about Edinburgh is that no matter who you get in trouble with--cops, casuals, bouncers, that if you are a fast enough runner you can always get away. All those narrow closes and stairs just beg for it.

Marathon? Damn, you must be very very fit! ;)

I've intensified my jogging training (11.5 instead of 7 km's every second day) in order to prepare for my first half-marathon next year ... but I'm absolutely sure that I'd never survive a full marathon distance!

I think that dog is crapping itself. It's got a 'Enough with the pictures already and get these things off me before they decide I'm dinner' look to it.

I haven't done a full one, but I'm sure I could--it's just a question of going slowly enough. That's the key, go often, go slow. I did a 5k trail race this evening and got pretty humbled, so fit is all relative. I'm always amazed how many fast people there are out there, some of whom don't look that way.

How much time do you need for 1 mile? I'm running 1 km in about 4:30 to 5 minutes.

It depends entirely upon the terrain I'm running on. I usually don't time myself except for races. I like trail races, and the times don't mean much in those. Ten years ago I was much faster in 5ks than I am now, but I know have much more endurance.

Actually, I don't like street running that much either (not perfect for the knees).

I prefer running the gravel path alongside the "Danube-Main" canal (directly in front of my housedoor) to the "solar hill" or in the town forest (4 km's away from me, with many great running parcours up and down) ... however, I decided to train on asphalt now in order to get prepared for the half-marathon next year (which is taking place on the street).

Was it so hot in your cities as well, lads?

Mamma mia, yesterday was the hottest day of this summer in my surroundings! 35 degrees at afternoon and still 27 degrees at midnight (really not easy to fall asleep:).

Me & some mates had a day off and decided to make a bike tour along the Danube canal to the famous "Franconian Lakeland" in the south of Nuremberg in order to enjoy a cooling-off. Although we drank a lot of water even during cycling, 2 (actually sporty) girls suffered a collapse in this heat ... so we had to cancel the trip in a smaller city 20 km's away from our target, deciding to get a rest in an open air bath. Damn, can you imagine what was going on there?? :) Surely about 5,000 people (half as much as the whole population), so it was hard to find a resting place or even some free space in the 3 pools. To be honest, I was pretty shocked ... since I hadn't been in a public air bath for years. Very happy to be finally back home at 9 pm, so we could enjoy a few pints of beer in a famous beergarden in front of my home (directly at the Danube canal, so we got the much needed breeze:) until midnight.

    Buenos noces.

Went to a sportmans dinner tonight. Been to quite a few over the years. Always enjoyed them. It's usually a fund raising event for a local football team, as it was tonight.

There were three main speakers. The norm. An ex-ref and two other comedians. It was a good night but usually there'll be an ex-footballer as well but not tonight. The ex-ref was John Rowbotham. He was very funny and very good. I always enjoy the ex-ref's and the ex-players more on these occassions as their stories hold so much more interest for me. Willie Young is one of the best ever. Rowbotham was the best tonight and the football club will be holding another in February with an even better line-up consisting of Brian McGinley(ex-ref), John Robertson(Ex-Hearts capt) and Frank 'Where's the birds' McAvennie

    Cannae wait. :D

Bigsoccer just put everything in German for some reason. I sorta like it.
