Re: Forno's of Spain LOL sounds delicious. I went budget, big mac 3.50, 3 pack of little bottles of wine 6.00 Maybe by next year I can again afford to spend $150 on a meal.
any idea if they have their own parking ? We went to El Pastor. Took a table in the dining room as the patio was full. The dining room was nice with white table cloth and comfortable warm, clean and the food was great. The big draw back was service, very slow. They had two waiters and were overwhelmed by a large number of RB fans. They later apologized saying they are surprised by so many of us that usually its slow at that time of the day. I told the guy to check the RB schedule and get more help. The rest room was also small and they run out of paper towel. Dining room pricing $17-23 on the menu but large portions could easily share a meal.
Re: Forno's of Spain Sounds good. I was thinking of going there sometime soon, although the big portions are a big turn-off (why do restaurants do that? ). Do they have a wide variety of tapas that one can fill-up on instead of having a main course?
Re: Forno's of Spain No tapas per se (here's their menu http://www.fornosrestaurant.com/ ) but you could get some apps. We had Mompou at 77 Ferry St. on our list for tapas just a couple of blocks down The Mrs said that it's a good thing that we don't live close to this area. We'd easily double our respective weights in one season.
Went to the GreenRoom in Harrison. Good selection of beer, not crowded, decent place to have a couple before the game. Food... meh. Next time, ironbound
Seabra's Marisqueira is one my favorite restaurants. They specialize in seafood and it's all good. If you go on the weekend they also have roast pork that's great. I have no idea what the pregame atmosphere would be like though.
Went to Iberia Tavern before the Chicago game. A number of Red Bull fans inside. Definitely worth checking out.
was watching a youtube vid from 1997 (ESPN2' own Rob Stone)...thanks to a poster from metrofanatic..... It as a special on the city of Kearny "Soccer Town USA" re: Tab, Tony and that douchebag whose named won't be mentioned here (hint: works on TV, sucks as a commentator)..they had shots of Thistle Fish and Chips and Argyle Fish and Chips, both located in Kearny Ave..... Give it a shot i guess..... never tried it myself)
FWIW I don't like him as a commentator either and he seems to have a chip on his shoulder about RBNY.
That, and he screwed up with any semblance of chemistry that there could have been with the 1998 team..... i don't care for his cheating except for the timing considering who he messed with... Anyway back to the food and drinks issue..... THis one i listed before is incredibly close to RBA....walked by it earlier while getting to my car...... Will check it out this week...... hoping it's good.... 1. Spondylus 206 Harrison Avenue, Harrison, New Jersey 07029 Phone: 1973-497-2040
went to Newark before the opener, assuming there would be a good bar. Biggest let down ever, we ended up in Ironbound, which was great, but only after blowing a half hour and five bucks on shitty pizza. Lesson learned, I look forward to the game next season.
I'll be going to Mompou's before the Dallas match. Apparently a friend of a coworker is one of the line chefs.
That place looks pretty good. They have 4 Belgian beers on tap. Definitely going to hit it next weekend before the game against Philly.
I can say last year on the Patio we had Live Music every Thur/Fri/Sat/Sun. We had $10 a Lobster Specials everyday. We've been in Harrison for 34 years. BBQ menu still getting worked on.
