I'm not saying we drop the Union game. What I'm saying is that with the current form of Union, the FCD and RSL games would be more difficult. We could have our starters take it easy and still win this game but I doubt that that would happen next week. If we really are interested on the SS, we have to get wins whoever (or whatever conference) our opponents are. It doesn't matter if they are tough to beat. As of now, SKC and SJE are the frontrunners in the SS. If SKC would at least draw one game, while we keep on winning games, we would have a better chance for the SS.
I think it would be an interesting addition, although if this is true it kind of makes you wonder why they traded for GAM. I would assume that if this is true that Flaco would be the one on the way out, those rumors have been swirling for a couple seasons now. Fernandez heading to Europe would free up more space in the midfield for both Estrada and Zakuani whenever he's ready to return. But we'll see there's always a ton of rumors floating around as the transfer window draws near and most never become reality.
If your favorite pirate website is the same as mine, scroll down. I thought that at first too, but they're out of chronological order
Looks like Rose is going to get a red card at some point here. We're lucky to still have all of our guys on the field.
Thought Rose looked good when he wasn't trying to get himself thrown out of the game. GAM was influential. An overall solid effort. Depth, solid defense, creating chances, winning. Could be worse.
Got the win at home against a lower tier EC team and that's the most important thing. Not the Sounders' best effort, but it was a decent one and I thought they were the better team for the majority of the game. The Sounders sure seem to have trouble handing the ball in the box though, their touches in there have really let them down all season long. That's an area I'd like to see them improve, with all the chances they've squandered this year I don't think it's too much of a reach to say they probably should have 2 or 3 more goals scored on the season. But like I said they're still getting the wins and that's what matters at the end of the season. Hopefully they keep up their solid play on the road and can get a little winning streak going in Frisco on Wednesday.
Well, we certainly can't complain about, not getting chances today.. Damn lacking of finishing. We should have killed them today, but were only able to get one.. Rose was damn lucky not to show up. Glad Salazar decided to keep the cards in his pocket on that one. Other than that, I thought the team did quite well. Philly had moments where they were threatening, but they never really challenged Meredith.
Philly's only semi chances were off stupid turnovers. Disappointing not to get more than 1, but whatevs. Comfortable win and Rose lucky not to get sent off.
I know we were dangerous before EJ came on, but we look damn good with him on. He adds a lot of speed to our talk that we don't have otherwise. Every game I see with him, the more and more I like that trade.
Video/audio I captured with post-match reactions from Sigi Schmid, John Hackworth, Freddy Adu and Andy Rose.
I still blame EJ for a haircut but overall pleased with his play and from what I've seen/read he's really going out of his way to immerse himself with the team, club, fans...etc. Glad he's a Sounder.
I know Fucito and Neagle were huge fan favorites, and I don't understand why, but we definitely got the better end of that deal.
This is Salazar leniency at its best. I think Prus or Toledo or Marufo would've definitely called a 2nd yellow on Rose. But I don't think that the result would've been different. There is definitely a big mismatch between Rosales and Gaddis. Rosales seems to be constantly exploiting it and a Rosales goal would've been inevitable weather we are down one man or not. One good thing that I noticed though is that Ianni seems to be in top form. I think he's even better than Mr. Consistency Jeff Parke. I saw Parke make some mistakes but Ianni seems to be able to cover for him. But we might also have to consider their fitness that Parke has been playing full 90 in the past few games.
I don't know about Fucito, but Lamar seems to be doing well with Impact. And now that Tyson is back to the left-back, the Neagle-Wahl pairing has been reborn. But still, we don't need Neagle. We got lots of midfielders. We need a decent target man. Impact on the other hand, based on the performance on their first few games, need a decent midfielder. So, it's a win situation for both ends. This reminds me of Hahnemann. I wonder what Union is demanding to let us have Hahnemann. In my opinion, with Hahnemann's age, I don't think letting go of Neagle and Fucito would be a fair trade.
I will say one thing. Like the few other players that did something silly after being given a chance by Sigi, I suspec it will be awhile before we see Rose again.
It was not pretty but getting 9 points from 3 games in one week is rare and huge given the games we have coming up. I hope Flaco is ready to go for RSL as I'm really looking forward to seeing GAM, Montero,Rosales and Flaco on the same field at the same time. Throw in Evans an that is a pretty devastating attack for any team to face.
I don't know I seem to remember Carasco's first game last year he made a pretty ugly challenge on Nyarko almost immediately after entering the game and Sigi still ran him out several times.
Agree the score should have been greater than 1-0. I would say we were not so much getting chances as making chances...and was giddy to see the offense, for the most part, combining well and looking threatening on the attack. We keep doing that, keep putting opponent's defenses on their heels and the finishing will come and the points will pile up!
