We have two weeks to get our shit together. Our easy part of the schedule is over and all we got was 6 points. Our next 5 games are against vs. RSL, @ New York, vs. Kansas City, @ Cowtown and vs. Los Angeles. Hopefully Quincy's suspension gets overturned, if not we will see Sherjill Anangono in the starting 11. #Ignoreiron81
qft Looking at our schedule, I don't feel really good until mid-July. That's practically 3 months away.
Remember, this is a World Cup season. Since our two best players [Magee and SJ] have done everything in their power to let a free trip to Brazil dribble down their legs, the FIRE will be at [snicker] "full strength," while other teams may be depleted from June - July. So, while Donovan and Gonzalez will be thinking about camp for Brazil, Sean Johnson and his inability to consistently pay attention for 90 minutes will be facing a depleted Gals on the 1st of June. On June 7th, while Clint Dempsey will be thinking about a group stage match v. Ghana, Frank Yallop can put Mike Magee in the midfield as far away from goal as possible vs. Seattle. So maybe the good times will be rolling into town by June! And then, there's the summer transfer window, where the team can be fortified by a DP to rival all those that this ownership have brought us so far. Cheer up.
Good points, except that Magee and Johnson didn't really screw up. However, in 2010, the Fire did try to spin the team not having any players on anyone's WC roster like you just did, and it still didn't help us any.
So basically the team will start playing with almost half the season gone. Sounds like a plan of a championship team.
That hasn't really been the MO since, what, Sarachan? Klopas threw Soumare, Magee, and Rios right into the mix last year.
He had to. His job was on the line and he knew it. And some of those insertions were total no brainers regardless of where we stood. That said, Frank 2.0 doesn't seem to have nearly the reticence to play younger kids that his predecessor had.
What's with this negativity? Hell, we're the FIRE goddammit. THIS IS CHICAGO! WE'VE BEEN UNBEATABLE FOR A MONTH AND A HALF! WE CAN TIE ANYONE, ANYWHERE, ANYTIME. COME AT ME BRO!
Did we break the record for most ties in a row? I can't remember if it was 5 or 6. If it's six, we really have something to play for in this game.
Interestingly enough when RSL plays us here it's usually a conservative style. Why? I don't know. That was with Kreis at the helm so maybe they'll come out flying this time around. They certainly have the talent to attack.
I predict that we will score first in the first half and then in the second half Real Salt Mormon will score to tie it up. We will then have a golden opportunity to score but will miss blatantly. 1-1 tie.
Been there…done that How about this for something new? We are up 1 to 0 in the waning minutes… RSL has a corner kick and Anangano accidentally scores an own goal to make it a 1 to 1 tie. Ironically, he drives it hard past Sean Johnson from exactly the penalty spot. That is how to achieve a tie with some flair!
