Game6:Sounders @ Chicago Who: Seattle Sounders @ Chicago Fire Where: Toyota Park, Bridgeview, IL When: 5:30 PM, Saturday, 4/28 Watch: KONG 6/16 Listen: KIRO 97.3 Suppose I should get this game thread going. The Sounders are coming off a bye week and it sounds like most of the players that were injured up until this point are at least practicing without restrictions. The notable exception beinf Fernandez who is still practicing on the side and is unlikely for Saturday. Prior to last week's game against TFC, Chicago's offense has been rather anemic, scoring only 3 goals in their 4 games, but last week they hung a three spot on TFC. Defensively they were doing fairly well giving up 4 goals in 4 games, but, again, they had 2 goals against them last week in the TFC game. It should be an interesting game.
Re: Game6:Sounders @ Chicago Is this the game where Rosales and Johansson returning to the starting rotation? Rosales's job is certainly safe after the dismal performances by the players that attempted to fill his shoes, Johansson may have to earn his spot back after Scott has done a commendable job defensively at RB. However, it is time for Yoshou's Guaranteed to be Wrong Predicted lineup: [LINEUP-4-4-2]EJ, Montero, Estrada, Evans, Alonso, Rosales, Gonzalez, Ianni, Parke, Johansson, Gspurning[/LINEUP-4-4-2]
Re: Game6:Sounders @ Chicago It is in the name of my predicted lineup, afterall. It was either Estrada on the left, or EJ or Estrada on the bench.
Re: Game6:Sounders @ Chicago I doubt they are gonna have Estrada start over EJ. If i have to guess it would be Caskey starting left wing for Saturdays game.
Re: Game6:Sounders @ Chicago I'm thinking we're going to see Caskey on the left with Estrada subbing for either Rosales or EJ after the 67'.
Re: Game6:Sounders @ Chicago over 110 ECS going to this one. plus many ssfc fans in chicago joining us.
Hmm.. Just noticed we had two threads for this game. Go Seaball. This game also marks the 100th game milestone for the Sounders. Don Ruiz has a nice article up on it, so go read: http://www.thenewstribune.com/2012/04/27/2122911/sounders-recall-first-99-with.html I will agree with Hanauer that the first game was the most memorable of the regular season games, but there were a lot of USOC that are even more memorable to me. For the first game, I remember the excitement going into and during the game and the reaction from everyone after the game about how good the Sounders were and how we made the Red Bulls look like the expansion club.
Re: Game6:Sounders @ Chicago According to the Seattle Times today, Estrada started on the left on Monday for the reserves and is "the favorite" to start there tomorrow.
Re: Game6:Sounders @ Chicago Care to explain? Estrada's was on the left side at the start of the season when he had his success. Obviously he was a striker, but he's some defensive chops so should be able to do a good job at midfield.
I'm good with Estrada on the left if no Flaco. He's probably more of a winger then striker anyways. And frankly, who else would we play on the left if no Flaco or Zakuani.
Re: Game6:Sounders @ Chicago Actually, just noticed I got Ianni wrong. Hurtado in for Ianni. Damn it, I'm back to ohfering. *sigh*
The Fire are better than when we faced them in the USOC and we will also have to deal with a healthy Grazzini. Nyarko also seems to have improved. However, there still is a talent gap. Despite it being an away match, a loss would be a bit of an upset for the Fire.
I don't see what justification they have for that... That wasn't anywhere close to being on frame until it bounced off the Fire player.
I would like to apologize for that Chicago goal.. The baby was being cranky and I thought it was safe for me to take him to bed. *sigh* I shall never make that mistake again. Chippy game though. We're definitely much better with Rosales on the field. EJ is definitely still getting used to the team, but he was definitely dangerous and was unfortunate not to have a second goal. The defense was living dangerously and was very lucky that Odurro had a serious case of the slips as he should have had multiple goals with all of the breakaways he had.
yeah, I suppose the goal was on Gspurning, but that was just a tough ball. Credit to Pappa and the wind. Overall good game. After the first 20 minutes or so we dictated the play. Alonso and B-Rad bossed the midfield.
