Fantastic match played by Heinze. Gaby was solid in defense and his usual self in attack. He missed a few passes yeah but was always a factor in the left wing always connecting wiht Rooney, Giggs and Carrick. If you guys have the chance to see the whole match, do it. A fantastic performance all around. Not much that Roma could have done to avoid that demolition.

One of my favorite players. He was brilliant yesterday. He needs to go to Copa America and be a starter.

Very average game from Heinze who started at left-back. I guess part of the problem was that Vidic was terrible and Kaka was having his way with him, so Heinze had to help out. Still some good tackles and crosses from the argie.

There's no way of getting round it, Heinze had a nightmare match against Milan.

Really?? IMO Heinze was about most solid player the English team had. There was no defensive pressure in the middle, Fletcher and whoever the other guy was completly dissapeared, Kaka and Seedoff was allowed to run quite free and the CBs had a bad game and a hard time communicating with each other. Apart from his mistake, which wasn't really his, in the second goal he defended the left side well and provided support on the attack from the left. Also solid in headers. And about the most clear attack situation for Manchester in second half was started by a pass by Heinze. Manchester needed to take the game to Milan, and play tough physical game fouling and pressuring Kaka to take the Italians and the crowd of the game, needless to say they didn't do that. I am hoping Masche will have a better outcome in the final.

I also think Heinze (and the defenders in general) are an easy target after this severe defeat. What about the midfield and forwards, who couldn't do shite for 90 minutes?

This said, Gaby had a bad first half, but then improved in the second, even starting some interesting attacks.

I wish I could agree with you but i can't. gabby had a bad game as well as the whole backline. he defended well here and there but all in all the man u defense was just terrible. But we have to give credit to milan, they played fantastic on both ends of the ball and really took it to manchester united.

Actually i blame ALex Fergusson more than anyone. His game plan and tactics were so poor. It was very clear that he wanted his fullbacks to tight the defence by moving close to CBS, and there was so many room for Milan's fullbacks or Midfielders to run in that space. Milan could have won with so many goals if they had some good fullbacks with good cross.

This thread could come in useful in the following weeks. ;)

He's already been linked with Real, Juve and Barca and is rumoured to be using the buyout clause in his contract to leave United.

It has to be said that he's had a poor season for United after never really getting back to his old self following his injury.

looks like CR7 is going to loose his best bud. :(

tbh, man u should do what they can to have him stay for another year. he was SOLID 2 years ago and if the gabby of 2 years ago comes back next year than SAF will be kicking himself that he let him go.

oh well..hopefully he ends up on juve. he's been linked with us for awhile now.

He's had most of a season to get back to form. Evra is now our number one even though he's a worse defender than Gabby. Heinze kills our attack whenever he gets the ball though.

    Re: Heinze

It's strange because the first games I watched when he came back, he was back to his usual self, and there were only praises from ManU fans ("Welcome back, Argentina" and so on...). I didn't see many ManU games after that, so I can't judge. The CL first leg was bad for Gabby, but then he was played out of his natural position (missing Rio) and you can't also blame him on the second goal, when he was about to tackle Kaka, just to be run into by Evra...

On second leg, I thought he had a decent game. Where were CRonaldo and Rooney at that time? Why don't people blame them for not scoring?..

All in all, I think Gaby is a great LB and has still some very good years ahead. If he feels he doesn't have a future at ManU then he should move.

    Re: Heinze

    There's already a Heinze thread.

And I don't think he's had a poor season overall. He had a few bad games but so did most of the defense around him.

I don't care if he goes anywhere as long as it's not Real.

Judging from the games I saw Heinze play I will respectfully disagree. His attacks run might not have been numerous, but they were effective. Or as effective as you could expect judging from the "help" he got from his teammates.

He has lost his place as our number one left back without Evra playing particularly well. Are you trying to say that United's attack is poor? :/

Evra doesn't know how to defend.

Let's just leave it at the fact that Evra attacks better, Heinze defends better.

I agree with you, Dr Know. However, I still don't understand what was meant by:
"His attacks run might not have been numerous, but they were effective. Or as effective as you could expect judging from the "help" he got from his teammates."
    Heinze can't attack at all.

    .

I was referring to the last game against Milan not the entire season. I should have clarified myself better.

heinze is better outside, but doesn't push. he's a good tackler inside the box but lacks organizational skill as a CB...
hard to find a suitable position for heinze. ManU should just let him buy off his own contract, so he can find a suitable home himself.
