thats like saying you cant see how playing soccer could help some improve in futbolito. they are similar games and some skills are needed in both.

    indoor improving futbolito:
    practices quick/short passing
holding the ball with less room
    improves touch
    improves dribbling
    etc

Futsal can surpass indoor in popularity for the simple reason that you can play futsal in any gymnasium in the country.

Futsal is fun and frustrating. The nice thing about the small foam filled ball is that it improves every player's touch on the ball. The hardest part about futsal is being willing to take players on one v. one and take chances. But that is what makes it fun.

I agree totally 101! It can be very frustrating. But from a coaches stand point it is very challenging and becomes quite the chess match. As I said I LOVE FUTSAL!!!!!

Well, it is obvious that you are indeed Canadian. I say this because of your love for Hockey. Futsal is extremely exciting for starters. And, secondly it will improve your skill level in a great way!
As one of the other members said Rivaldo and Pele played lots of it and it clearly reflects in their style of play.
I know that that type of indoor soccer with the walls must be very exciting if your level of ball skills is low but once you are thinking of improving your soccer, futsal is definitely the way to go.
If you ever get the chance, though, to watch a great quality Futsal match, I strongly encourage you to do so.
I was lucky enough to witness the Futsal World Cup in Guatemala a few years back and I will tell you that it is extremely exciting and you will see some guys do unthinkable things with the ball. Specially in teams like Brasil.

Futsal is cool. Why are you Americans trying to claim your version of indoor soccer is your own? Its been known in UK and Ireland for generations, WE gave it to YOU. Stop talking about Euro bias for futsal only when we clearly have both here, on mainland its mainly futsal because futsal is better and more skillful. Indoor is more like brute force and ignorance.

I thought futsal is originally from Spain?well,at least the name is,since it's from spanish futbol sala-futsal...which means it's played indoor but without walls on handball playground,in matter of throw-ins,I think spanians throw while most of Europe kicks, and is used ball size 4 with lesser bounce,I'm playing some low league here(Czech)for 11 years and I really enjoy it,and not to repeat everything said,I'd say whatever good was said is true, and whatever bad,is not..

    PEACE

This conversation would'nt even be happening if ya'll each had a copy of the Brasil-Egypt FIFA 2000 Futsal World Cup match in Guatemala. That match is a reference for anyone suggesting that futsal is boring. Outdoor football wishes it could even approximate to that match. Manoel Tobias, Shumacher, Lenisio, Anderson, Fininho, Sabry, Arafa and especially Falcao and Ismail Tamer put on a performance of skill, creativity and artistry that very few people have ever been fortunate enough to witness! It was a soccer/football fantasy match.

Get your hands on that joint, at all costs!

    Futsal! :)

    PEACE

I just saw yesterday the final game between
Interviu Boomerang vs El Pozo Murcia for the Copa España for the Liga Nacional Futbol Sala through TVE.

For more information on the game:

    http://www.futsalplanet.com/news/news-01.asp?id=3256

Now. After having watched MISL games (Indoor Soccer) and FUTSAL from TVE, I don't think FUTSAL is boring. What I do notice is that you do need more control skills in FUTSAL than in indoor. With the walls around you and a not so heavy number 4 ball, one is bound to go for the kick more often than FUTSAL. In the end, for me it's about even.

No, it's futsal. The players themselves will tell you that. Ronaldo said it himself.

i know what the players say about it but i dont think they even know what there talking about. i know they say the tight spaces forces them to do their tricks in tight spaces which makes it easier when there are outdoor fields but you would have to be able to do those tricks in the first place(why arent the futsal players playing outdoor soccer than?) plus they say it helps with free kicks which i could see helps with accuracy but in outdoor soccer you have to have power and ability to hit from long range which you wouldnt get from futsal.

If futsal really helped that much more countrys would be doing it.

I don't even know where to start. Does "more countrys (your comment, not mine)" include most of Europe, Asia, Australia, and South America? North America (Canada, Mexico, and the US) is the only place where futsal is not the premier indoor game (the UK play small sided soccer, similar to futsal but without the heavy ball, but futsal's catching on as well).

If a player cuts his teeth on futsal, and then transfers the skills he learns to the outdoor game, he doesn't know that he's talking about? Seems to me he would.

On that note, there is money to be made playing pro futsal, so if you're making good $$$ playing futsal, why go outdoors? Why aren't more indoor players in the US in MLS or the USL? A lot of them are, but not every single one.

Either you don't know squat about futsal, or you hate it so much, you're in denial.

w/e dude, all iam saying is it doesnt help soccer players play any better than a normal outdoor game. iam sure the player thinks it helped him more but it was just getting more experience playing the game that helped him, it wouldnt of mattered if he played indoor, more outdoor or futsal.

    Oh no you didn't!!!!!!!!!!!

You can not be serious? You can not even compare the two different sports together. One is a form of Soccer the other is a form of Hockey (rules included) One is the official indoor game of FIFA, the other is not!

The rest is a matter of opinion! Mine is right, yours is wrong, which is just another opinion.

It is good enough for the world, that's why it's the only Official Indoor game of FIFA!

Where does this idea that you have to be extremely skillful to play futsal?

Here it’s the most popular participatory sport by far.

There are open courts everywhere and everyone plays it .

Football is only played in clubs , in the youth teams or in the senior team of your local club.

Everyone else just comes to the 45X20 meters concrete court with 3X2 goals , once there are 10 people and a ball there you play.

And it’s been like that longer than I’m alive.

here in Brazil, recently they are promoting an Indoor Soccer tournament called FUTSHOW (or something like that).

The difference to the brazilian futsal championship, is that the futsal have its own teams and players.

The futshow league on the other hand, all teams were field soccer teams (Corinthians, Flamengo, Santos, etc).

And the players were all retired field players, from 35 to 45.

Since it were traditional field clubs and old famous players, it attracted some good crowds.

you have quite the garage my friend. How many cars do you have?? :)

well, as someone said, it originated apparently in Uruguay, where people speak spanish. But if it originated in Brazil, the name would be the same. Here its known as either Futebol de Salão (Hall Football) or Futsal. Sala-Salão mean room or hall (sala is room, salão is big room or hall)

thanks for the generalization. Since the brazilian national volleyball team is also the BEST EVER in the history of the sport, I guess all we do over here is play Volleyball... and soccer... probably we also only car race here also, since our good record at F1 and at Formula Indy.

More then anything you have to be a skillful passer in Futsal if not then don't play the game. Brazilians showed the world in 2004 that skills does not win the day in Futsal, passing a tactical awareness wins! Hey, that sound just like Football/Soccer doesn't it?
