I just came back from the Austin Aztecs (USL 2 division USA) vs Tigres of Mexico where Blas Perez plays....he had a great game. They won 2-1....1 goal for Blas and 1 assist. You can tell that he wasn't even going all out, but you can clearly see his dominance over anyone on the pitch. He was doubled or tripled team like the whole time. It was so wierd seeing him there, seeing how just a week ago he was in El Salvador for the qualifiers....i didn't expect to see him..it was a nice surprise.

El volante panameño Rolando Escobar viajará mañana lunes, a las 7:30 a.m., con rumbo a Grecia para fichar con el Panthrakikos F.C. de la primera división griega. Escobar, quien jugó y se coronó campeon con el Deportivo Táchira de Venezuela la temporada pasada, estaba a la espera de volver a jugar en el fútbol internacional, luego de que el Deportivo Táchira no le llegase a renovar el contrato. Su representante, Luis Felipe Posso, habló con Futbolcanalero.net y confirmó que Escobar será fichado por un año con el Panthrakikos F.C. que recientemente ascendió a la primera división del fútbol griego. "Rolando Escobar tendrá una gran oportunidad de mostrarse en el fútbol europeo", comentó Posso en alusión a esta gran oportunidad. Stempel replaces Alexandre Guimaraes, who was fired after Panama's dramatic exit from 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™ qualifiers in June. President of the Panamanian Football Federation Ariel Alvarado said Stempel would take charge of the team for the Central American Cup of Nations, which Panama will host in January, although the two parties had not yet agreed terms. Panama appeared set to reach the group stage of the North, Central America and Caribbean FIFA World Cup qualifiers until they conceded three goals in the second half of a second leg tie away to El Salvador to lose 3-1, and 3-2 on aggregate. Stempel, who has spent much of his life in Britain, is based in Panama where he manages national champions San Francisco FC as well as the U-23 squad. He is likely to face great pressure to deliver from Panamanian fans, who are turning to football in greater numbers away from the traditional national sport of baseball. Great choice, hopefully they come to terms on the contract quickly. The only thing that worries me is that he's currently the coach for San Francisco F.C., who have upcoming matches in the concachampions.. Will he continue as their coach for another month or two.. or will he try to juggle being coach for both squads..

Not only is the Panamanian international the first player to score a goal in the CONCACAF Champions League, he's also the reason why Tauro FC heads to The Home Depot Center with a comfortable two-goal edge in their preliminary round series against Chivas USA. The 23-year-old struck for a brace, lifting the Panamanian side to a 2-0 win against Chivas USA on Tuesday night at Estadio Rod Carew just outside of Panama City. The return leg at the Home Depot Center is Sept. 2. The winner advances to a group that includes Santos Laguna of Mexico, CSD Municipal of Guatemala and the winner of the preliminary round matchup between LD Alajuelense of Costa Rica and the Puerto Rico Islanders of the United Soccer Leagues First Division. Tauro FC, the seven-time Panamanian champions which finished as runner-up in this year's ANAPROF Apertura, controlled the pace from the opening kickoff and was all over Chivas in the opening half hour. They took a deserved lead on six minutes when Dorian Lopez collected a long ball by the corner flag and served the ball toward the far post. Luis Escobar won a 50-50 challenge with Jonathan Bornstein just outside the six-yard box and dribbled along the endline where he slipped the ball through traffic to Aguilar, who poked it past Chivas goalkeeper Zach Thornton. Chivas USA had two quality chances to equalize within a minute, but Sacha Kljestan had his attempt knocked away for a corner kick in the 11th minute and then Atiba Harris headed wide of the target.
