They haven't gotten there yet. Semi-finals still, return legs coming up. Meta and Once play today, Aguila and Firpo tomorrow.

Well Firpo won their first leg match against Aguila in San Miguel 2-0

Once beat Metapan 2-1 in the first leg

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------

Metapan is the first one to qualify for the final, after beating Once 4-1 in the second leg (winning 5-3 on aggregate)

Firpo v Aguila second leg will be played today (interesting note: it will be played en el Cuscat and not in Usulutan)

Aguila won 3-1, leaving the series tied at 3 but I guess that away goal rule is in effect and Firpo moves on to the final.

    Sorry Feno...

Good game man. We dominated Firpo, Nico Munoz gone the GC def hurted us.

Firpo goes to the final bc they ended up first the season. I guess is a good price bc my Aguila was mediocre this whole season.

When Aguila is not the champion es un fracaso, only the championship keep peace in San Mike.

Congrats to Firpo, Coria whos a former Aguila icon is prob going to take them to a new tittle, they havent win la copa in 7 years.

San Salvador also won trhe second game between the two clubs 2-0. It also has to be noted that the six U17 players all played in this match with "el chino" Orellana scoring the first goal.

Next game for SS will be against Destroyer de Bolivia on Wednesday.

On a side note, things are looking really good for SS, hopefully this can carry onto the Apertura and they can at the very least make the finals.

Just a little over 3 weeks to go till the kick off of Apertura 2007. Fixtures have just been released, and these are the games for matchday one.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Apertura 2007

    Jornada 1
    11 y 12 de Agosto

    Metapán v Once Municipal

    Vista Hermosa v Nejapa

    Chalatenango v Aguila

    FAS v San Salvador

    Alianza v Firpo

Here's a link to the full season's fixtures:

    http://www.laprensagrafica.com/futbol/2007/07/7_20_2007%2007202007143.pdf

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'll post predictions closer to matchday, but as for how the season will turn out, I can see Vista Hermosa struggling to keep up with the rest of the teams. Last season they finished 3rd last and second last overall and are only here after defeating a team from second division to stay up. Now after losing there leading striker in Patricio Barroche who has moved to Firpo, they will be in for a tough tournament. I think Firpo, San Salvador, FAS and Once Municipal will be the teams to beat this season. All these teams apart from Once have made good signings in the offseason and should all make it to the finals. I'm really expecting alot from San Salvador this season, they have the quality to win the whole thing, and hopefully they can make the most of it and not throw it away like in previous years.

After losing Munoz Aguila is gonna need both Campos and Paleta to step up and score some goals, and if they cant, they could be finding it hard to even make midtable. I think last seasons champs, Metapan will not do nearly as good as they did last season as they have lost a number of good players, i'll predict they finish outside the top four along with mittable regulars Chalate and Alianza.

    Dijeron adiós con derrota

4 wins from 6 games, not bad for San Salvador.

The fact that they held off there big names in the game they lost, also says alot.

It hasn't been said if all the Sub-17 players were given game time, but i wouldn't be surprised if they did.

GREAT to see another Sub-17 player getting on the score sheet in William Maldonado.

Ronald Cerritos is set to go back and play in the USA.

Although it wont be with an MLS team, but with USL Division 2 side Real Maryland.

Personally i cant see why Cerritos would accept such a transfer, as i cant imagine the playing level in that division to be any better than that in El Salvador. But in saying that, he has always said he wanted to go back to the US, so i guess he is getting what he wanted.

Although, i really do wish he could have stayed, because he still has alot to offer and although his playing days must be almost coming to an end, his experiance is something that any Salvadoran team should look to have. Especially San Salvador, with the U-17 players that they have just signed.

Link : Cerritos, con Real Maryland

I wonder how much "money" played in his decision. I don't think it would, seeing as USL 2nd division don't pay as much. That's 2 levels below MLS. Any idea on the contract $?

Oscar Ortiz has said that Santa Tecla will be playing in la primera within two years. That would be great to see, and by the way there first game went, it looks like they have come to play.

Personally i'm gonna keep an eye out for the two new teams in Estudiantes and Santa Tecla FC, along with my old two favs from division 2, Platense and Topiltzín.

Forgot to mention, another team to look out for will be Atlético Marte. As reports have it that the owners want the club to be what it once was back in the 50's to 80's and have said that they will be investing big money to make it happen. Although, to this day, nothing has been done.

OK, so the season begins today with Vista Hermosa v Nejapa and Metapán v Once Municipal.

I don't know if i'm gonna be the only one doing this, but i'm gonna be trying to get my picks in before every round.

    So here we go....

    Picks for Round One:

    Vista Hermosa 1 v Nejapa 1
    Metapán 0 v Once Municipal 1
    Chalatenango 1 v Águila 0
    FAS 2 v San Salvador 2
    Alianza 0 v Firpo 2

    San Salvador vs FAS 2-1
    Alianza 1 - Firpo 1
