    From the soccernet transfer blog

16.26 BST Liverpool are hoping to pull off the £7 million signing of Real Madrid forward Jose Callejon in the next few days, according to the Daily Star.

You have to think this would put the kibash on a move for Dempsey if it comes off.

Liverpool have been linked with a number of attackers today, though the Dempsey rumour persists. The Metro have Fulham offering Dempsey + cash to Liverpool for Andy Carroll.

Whilst he' hasn't really adjusted at Liverpool and definitely wasn't worth the money they paid, Carroll is still a good player. Fulham will need to replace Dempsey, so Carroll going the other way would be a boon. Obviously that Fulham are offering money and Dempsey is just because Carroll is signifcantly younger and has significantly more time left on his contract.

Fulham would be much better off picking up a few kids from the MLS.

    They had great success there.

All this talk of Liverpool sending Carroll anywhere is pure BS. They cannot get rid of a 35M player not even 2 years after they picked him up. Not even if he deserved to be moved. The club can't lose face like that, especially not with new owners trying to prove themselves. Add in the fact that he played, and played pretty well at the recent Euros, and it makes even less sense.

Callejon's hair alone is worth 10M.

There is a lot of talk about Andy Carroll going to West Ham on loan. I won't pretend to be an expert on how Liverpool execs feel about him, but from reading Liverpool stuff 1)Henry was furious during the season with how bad the transfers were (to the point that he refused to shake Kenny's hand when they got their runner up medals for the FA cup) 2)They have told Brendan Rodgers he has full control and he has been fairly open about wanting to get rid of a few pieces.

And yeah Liverpool is all about attackers right now but the two constant links have been Dempsey and Sigurdson (who is now with Tottenham)

Would love to see Shea and either Hamid or Johnson to Fulham. Shea could fight for the spot dempsey will leave behind and either keeper could battle to be Schwarzer's backup and upcoming replacement, since he's 39 and not getting any younger.

Fulham defintely don't need a back-up/replacement for Schwarzer, they already have Stockdale, who will almost certainly be replacing Schwarzer very soon.

Fulham still has David Stockdale (who might be getting a tad impatient with waiting in the wings) but Martin Jol has been focusing more on Dutch youth (obviously) last year he thought he had Kevin Strootman signed sealed and delivered but he went to PSV instead (and is now heavily linked with a future move to Milan). Fulham could use another.... a striker to help Deuce out if he stays. Really, for the last 2 seasons it has been a revolving door at striker between Zamora, AJ, Dembele (before moving him more to a CM role), Pogrobnyak, and Orlando Sa. They like the Italian kid... Marcello Trotta a lot though.

He's 27 and has never played a PL match before. 0 appearances for Fulham. He's still being loaned out at 27 years old. He's not a long term answer for a PL side.

We'll see. I just don't think they're going to cut bait on a 35M English international before they give him enough opportunity to really show what he can do over an extended period. Even a loan would give the appearance that they are giving up on him.

He's actually played 16 league matches for Fulham (and just signed a 4 year deal last summer). The club hold him in high regard and only the excellent play of Schwarzer has kept him on the bench (and out on loan).

That can't be right. Didn't he fill in and dominate when Schwartzer was looking to move to Arsenal back when?

Yeah, Ironkick14's statement is just factually untrue. Stockdale is a top-quality GK and I've been wanting him to replace Schwarzer for the past 2 years. He's been called into England National Team camps on more than one occasion. Stockdale denying a Nani PK during a Fulham/ManU match that ended in a 2-2 draw is one of my favorite recent Fulham EPL memories.

How wrong you are! You really have to try hard to be this wrong, lol! Anyways, 27 years old for a goalkeeper is like being 18 years old for a field player. Have you seen the dinosaurs that are still playing at a very high level that are over 40? I believe prime age for goalkeepers is 32 years old if I'm not mistaken.

Fulham should seriously look at Pontius! This guy, his career, and style of play match dempsey down to a tee.

no, no they don't. Dempsey is much more creative. And meaner. I like Pontius and think he can play at a higher level, but he's different than Deuce.

That's why it's the perfect time to move him, while he's still hot.

And this is the best opportunity for Rodgers to mark his presence, by moving a 35M player that is not in his plans. He would be saying to the rest of the players: "Don't care if you have a name or cost tons of money, if you don't perform for me, you're gone".

Wish him luck getting a work permit without a single cap to his name.

Pontius would have a serious work permit problem. He's never been capped by the US at any level.

That's what would make Shea such an attractive target. He wouldn't have any work permit issues at all.

True, didn't really think about the WP issue. I still think pontius could be a better attacking player in europe than shea.

Shea would be playing LB or CB in Europe.

Shea does not have the technical ability for the EPL. I think he would be a much better fit for the SPL.
