Fulham were missing Hangeland, Senderos, Parker, Berbatov, and their #1 'keeper. does anybody who follows Fulham know why? are they injured? or resting? haven't been able to find any explanation from my half-assed online research... Fulham were my favorite Premier League team back in the McBride, Bocanegra, Keller and Dempsey days, haven't followed them much lately but i'd hate to see Deuce involved on the wrong end of a beating like that. hope they can get their act together...
Hangeland - Lower back injury. Berbatov - Groin strain. Stekelenburg - Injured ankle. Senderos - Groin injury. Parker - Older player, needed a rest. Fulham have enough quality to stay up but they need to figure out their identity.
With the transfer window being open now (according to you) one would think that Dempsey would be signed and in the squad for the New Years Day game. Maybe the previews mention that he is signed and going to play? http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/25513331 http://www.fulhamfc.com/news/2013/december/31/head-to-head http://www1.skysports.com/football/live/match/287478
I hope they have enough about them. I have my doubts. Hangeeland isn't looking the same player he's been. Midfield isn't very good outside Parker who isn't going to do much other than offer a back 4 shield. They need to come together quickly. I have my doubts about Berba playing up top without a banger. I fear that he and CD are going to be trying to ghost into the same areas. They could be great together if they can get on the same page.
As I had it explained by an English rules geek, you have to register any new player by noon on the day prior to the match. Since the transfer window wasn't opened, Dempsey couldn't be registered until 1/1. That's pretty much the case for any January transfer or new loan; they will miss the January 1st matches. The situation for Shea appears to be different because it's an "emergency loan." Not sure if intra-FA loans in general have immediate eligibility or only emergency loans, but digging through the EPL and Championship rule books isn't looking like a fun way to spend time.
Actually I see on the other thread it is an emergency loan, but any loan can be registered on the day I think.
Someone wrote this up in concern to international loans, FWIW: Neither the Premier League nor the Football League rules contain such restrictions in relation to international loans. When a player joins a club from an international association, the leagues recognise that player as a new signing. They do not register that player as a loan signing but as a permanent transfer while FIFA recognise the player as being on loan.
Mods I could not find a Dempsey thread I could post in. I hope the title is okay. From the Fulham Football club's website: Fulham fans were given an early present when the Club announced on Christmas Eve that Clint Dempsey would be returning on a two-month loan spell from MLS outfit Seattle Sounders. http://www.fulhamfc.com/the-teams/first-team/clint-dempsey Wonder if he will get a run Saturday?
I would imagine that as the loan couldn't be registered until the 1st Jan, the FA couldn't request International Clearance either until that same day, which obviously wouldn't have arrived by the 12PM GMT cutoff on 01/01.
That, I think, is the big difference. The FA has the ITCs for all the English-based players, so there's no issue in getting that and it's easy to register a player the day of the match.
Is the FA Cup match going to be anywhere on TV? I looked over at EPL Talk and amazingly, Fox Sports is showing THREE Championship-or-lower FA Cup matches but Fulham/Norwich is nowhere to be found.
Pinched nerve or something like it Not since October. He was playing before that, but ... No If you ask me, and you probably shouldn't, but his absence/poor play is the single biggest reason for Fulham's poor form this year compared to last. Not enough Berbatov goals this year and Schwarzer's sizzling form last year are second and third reasons
It's not on British TV. United v Swansea City v Blackburn Arsenal v Spurs Derby v Chelsea Forest v West Ham BT Sport/ITV have the FA Cup rights rather than BBC & Sky for the Premier League so the games are not all streamed to international audiences.
Flashback! Dempsey and Dembele for Fulham today! http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/358737/Clint-Dempsey-flashback-for-Fulham
There won't be, the English FA picks a few games to be broadcast on TV and the rest are available on the radio at best.
