    Hey guys,

I am not sure if anyone follows the Korean U-16 here but since the Asian U-16 Championship is coming up soon Iran's team is in Seoul now to have two friendlys against your boys. Does anyone know of a way to watch these games online or are they even getting televised?

You are playing a selection from a couple (4 or 5) of academies. It won't be televised.

Interesting. So does this mean that Korean NT U-16 is usually a selection of couple of soccer academies or this is not the Korean NT and a different team altogether. I know in Iran this is being advertised as Korean NT U-16.

It is technically the U16 team, but just a half-assed selection of players. The teams sending their players aren't the best academies if that's what you are asking. KFA is making inconsiderate decisions because this generation won't be playing in the Asian Championship (nor the U17 World Cup). I'm not sure if there's a manager assigned for the age level right now.

Just in case anyone was interested the game was played and Iran won 1-0. Apparently the game was played under rain and not the best weather conditions. According to the reports Korea participated with a mixture of U-16, U-17 and even some U-19 players. The Iranian coach wasn’t too happy about the fact that Korean coach didn’t even agree to shake his hand after the game and also didn’t attend the post game conference.

This is all from Iranian media, can anyone confirm?

U19.. How can you take that seriously? lol

The match was played in heavy rain but that shouldnt take anything away from the Iran win.

Well that is exactly why I said it is from Iranian media and would be good if someone can confirm. I am pretty sure there is a Korean source for the players who played.

According to the KFA website, what Iranian media is reporting is all false. http://www.kfa.or.kr/news/news_view.asp?tb_name=kfa_gisa&g_idx=5445&g_gubun=2 - See the 28-men squad list at the bottom of the page.

Seriously, how can you believe such a laughable comment like some U-19 players are playing?

Like hihi said, this is more like a preliminary U-16/17 team which doesn't represent the Korea U-16/17 NT as this team is selected from only a handful of youth academies and high school teams. In summary, this team has been hastily picked because of Iran's request. Since Korea's U-16 won't be representing the AFC Championship this year, KFA don't have any reason to create a U-16/17 team now. So, this U-16/17 is only a preliminary squad. Iran requested KFA to create the team for their practice matches and so KFA made the preliminary squad to meet Iran's demand. Actually, according to that article I linked above, the Korean squad Iran is facing against was formed only 4 days ago while your Iranian U-16 have been playing together for more than a year. :)

Also, in regards to the Korean coach who refused to hand shake with the Iranian coach. According to the match report from the KFA website, the Iranian players did a lot of play acting and grass rolling after they scored a goal at the 60th minutes. The Korean coach was certainly unhappy about that kind of behaviour and was perhaps the reason why he refused to hand shake with the Iranian coach.

Btw, the second match against the Iran team ended in a 1-0 win for the Korea youth team.

Thanks for the above detailed response (a bit over the top don't you think? considering I approached the whole thing with doubt myself!). Good luck to the Korean youth team and I guess this year's only real competitive battle between two Iranian side will be the U-19 championship and I hope both team play to their potential.

    AND YES TOOOYEEEE DARVAZEHHHHHHH!

it was iran u-16 vs korea u-17 in both games. no players older than that were involved.

According to PFDC member who translated a korean news to avoid confusion and false iranian reports.
