Not so fast... #CopaAmerica 2016 in U.S.? Interesting idea but nothing agreed to by @ussoccer yet.— Sunil Gulati (@sunilgulati) April 11, 2014
Your point about how money talks is very true, but my question remains the same. They could have played there many times before and never have. So what has changed? Is it something as simple as the university reducing the rent?
That is a question for the promoters. I would assume whoever is organizing the tour(s) felt that the publicity of a game in "The Big House" was a can't miss hit and the price was right. It is a little out of the box, given that Ann Arbor isn't a major urban area which may be why promoters in the past have not used the venue. Or other venues just were offering better terms.
It the field really is only 60 yards wide it will be a horrible spectacle. I hope those paying the huge ticket price also understand most of hte stars will not be playing, they will be on summer breaks after the world cup.
my understanding is the teams are contractually obligated to bring their top players - there may of course be exceptions for players who make to say the semi-finals, but I'm not sure of that.
Absolutely fantastic !!! I hope that Cristiano Ronaldo will play because the USA will eliminate the Portugal...............
Some online discussion about a West Brom trip to the US with a possible match against Rochester of the USL Pro. Nothing more than chatter.
