The Chicago Fire Soccer Club's defender of the year will be back in 2013. Defender Friedrich to remain with Fire Release: Chicago Fire Re-Sign Arne Friedrich Retire or re-sign? Fire, Friedrich quick to choose the latter Fire Re-sign Defender Arne Friedrich German World Cup veteran defender returns to Fire for 2013 "Building continuity at the center back positions is a priority in 2013," said Fire President of Soccer Operations Javier Leon. "Arne's international experience and leadership are key to our defense. We are happy to have him back next season."
YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH BOY!
Thank God and Thank Arne and thank the Fire. Good stuff about and by Arne (translated poorly by internets). Yes he apparently writes a column and...am I the only one who doesn't know about this? Fun stuff. http://translate.googleusercontent....ssball&usg=ALkJrhj7Gtw1Z57P_UsvVCjpYzOo25_iaQ
This seems like an appropriate time for some German Industrial Rock. Besies, "Left, Right, Straight ahead" seems an apt description of Arne's play
With a full season of Berry, Arne and Gibbs, our defense should be in the "B-A-G". Of course, that would mean we are playing with three central defenders. Overall, this is great news.
From everything I've heard, he's been having a blast living in Chicago. Really great that we've got him for another season.
We should be trying to upgrade over Jalil period. Whether you are talking center back or outside back. He would be good depth, but I don't want him starting at either spot, and if you are suggesting that we might be better with Jalil in the middle (instead of Arne) so that we can have Gargan or someone else outside, I would completely disagree.
Maybe for more than just next year... http://www.chicago-fire.com/news/2012/11/veteran-defender-friedrich-open-fire-stay-past-2013
Love it. I didn't realize that he is only 33. You can certainly start breaking down physically at that age but he looked good this year. It's also possible that he can be around for several years.
If he's having a blast and wants to win, maybe he can get on the phone to some Bundesliga fullbacks.maybe someone like Patrick Ochs (RB) who I think was at Wolfsburg around the same time with Arne.
