    Re: The French National Team

jeremy menez - agree (look at our current NT , we lack any good wingers except for Ribery + Nasri
mathieu valbuena - same as above
Mamadou_Sakho - not yet IMO , give him a few more years and he'll no doubt be ready for the blue shirt
bacary sagna - Yes , natural starter at RB .
julien escude - Yes , pissess all over Abidal at CB and LB !
Yannis Tafer - Looks to have a good future , lets hope the guys at Lyon develope him well
Hatem Ben Arfa - It was stupid to leave him out of Euro 2008 , but nothing suprises me with Domenech
hugo Lloris--------------- keeper number #2# I agree
Karim Benzema---------- 10 Our best striker
Sébastien Frey--------> 1# Our best goalkeeper , shame he had to quit
Amaury Bischoff------ too bad he when Portuguese on us! No comment
Samir Nasri - More effective in a free or central role , can still do a job on the wings
Gaël Clichy---- should be our number 1 left back
Abou Diaby--- needs to stay injury free
philippe mexes - Should be at CB regular
ludovic giuly--- It's stupid that Giuly has no international career when we could easily need he's playing in our team .
david trezeguet-- unless we find a system to help Trez , he'll just be invisible :(
julien faubert - Stupid move in going to West Ham
Yoann Gourcuff --- Very talented , made a stupid move in going to Milan , but now at Bordeaux he seems to be settling well .
Yoan Gouffran---------- this guy kicked a$$ in caen!!!! Yeah he should be tried out , Henry sucks .
Yohan Cabaye -- I prefer him to Diarra , he can attack much better , very good at FK and has very good technique .
mathieu flamini -- Toulalan and Flamini are very simliar and equally as good , I have no preference , but either one should start .
lassana diarra ------i like this guy alot----- Me too , although having him and Toulalan in the same midfield makes no sense , but hey this is Domenech we are talking about , and he's done the same with Viera + Makelele , we have no central attacks and pretty easily found out if Ribery isn't on his game .

All in all our selections sucks , it's the same old players that play shit for the club but somehow manage to start in our NT , i even hear on l'eqiupe that Abidal is starting the game tonight at CB  The same Abidal who's been shit in Catalunya ? The guy moans about wanting to play CB but he's crap there ! Toni made him his bitch in the game we got knocked out in the EUROs (Abidal mistake - pen + red card ) while we have natural CB's waiting like Escude , Squillaci .

    Re: The French National Team

I'm continuing my talk about the FFF that I started on the other thread.

Remember : the NT Coach is elected by the 21 members of the Council, by a show of hand.

Heard today that the average age of the Council's members is 59 years. Average. They problably think they are voting for Raymond Kopa, and not Domenech.

    Re: The French National Team

This is no doubt a good list, but would it be much to ask that you join my World Cup 2014 Team thread?

In any case, here is my input on these, with the % as whether or not I think they will make the team someday (and also whether they have a shot at starting), along with the # of years it would take, in my opinion.

    Ménez:
    Making the team: 100%
    Starter (within 4 years): 80%
    When: Soon, within a year.

    Valbuena:
Have not seen this season, won't judge.

    Sakho:
    Making the team: 100%
    Starter (within 4 years): 100%
    When: About 3 years.

    Sagna:
    Making the team: 100%
    Starter (within 4 years): 70%
    When: Already on the team.

    Escudé:
    Making the team: 30%
    Starter (within 4 years): 20%
When: Already on the team, but I have not been that convinced.

    Tafer:
    Making the team: 20%
    Starter (within 4 years): 10%
When: I like Tafer, but he's only been a very good finisher thus far. If he can develop the way Benzema did, then everything will be significantly increased. I would be slightly shocked if he had an impact on the senior Bleus 4 years ahead.

    Ben Arfa:
    Making the team: 100%
    Starter (within 4 years): 100%
When: Already on the team, and will be a very big contributor, I think.

    Lloris:
    Making the team: 100%
Starter (within 4 years): Will not judge any keepers until they play this season in the Champions League.
    When: Already on the team.

    Benzema:
    Making the team: 100%
    Starter (within 4 years): 100%
When: Already on the team, no further comment is required.

    Frey:
    Making the team: 100%
Starter (within 4 years): Will not judge any keepers until they play this season in the Champions League.
When: Would already be on the team if he had not decided to be internationally retired.

    Bischoff:
    Making the team: 5%
    Starter (within 4 years): 5%
When: Has opted to be a Portuguese, but even if he had opted for Bleu instead, I don't think he could beat anyone ahead of him.

    Nasri:
    Making the team: 100%
    Starter (within 4 years): 100%
    When: Already on the team.

    Clichy:
    Making the team: 100%
    Starter (within 4 years): 100%
When: Already on the team, and even though I'm not an Arsenal fan at all, I think he should be starting at left back.

    Diaby:
    Making the team: 25%
    Starter (witihn 4 years): 15%
When: Has a cap or two. Diaby has a bunch of players ahead of him, though if he becomes solid in the EPL, it isn't out of the question. If that does happen, expect him in a year or two.

    Mexès:
    Making the team: 100%
    Starter (within 4 years): 100%
When: Already on the team, and Vienna should be his worst game in Bleu.

    Giuly:
    Making the team: 30%
    Starter (within 4 years): 15%
When: Giuly remains a player of high quality, though with Ben Arfa, Ménez, Gakpé and Obertan available out wide (as well as Nasri, though he is likely going to play in the middle), it'd be hard to see him having an impact, especially as the years go on.

    Trezeguet:
    Making the team: 100%
    Starter (within 4 years): 50%
When: All of the above applies only if a certain idiot is no longer at the helm.

    Faubert:
    Making the team: 20%
    Starter (within 4 years): 10%
When: Has a cap, scored a goal. Except if he explodes at West Ham, that could be it, but we will see now what he can do considering he is no longer injured. In a season or two, we'll know certainly know more.

    Gourcuff:
    Making the team: 80%
    Starter (within 4 years): 40%
When: Is already on the team, although the issue with Gourcuff is that there's Ben Arfa, Nasri, Ménez and others would appear better positioned as starters. Definitely not out of the question that he'll have an impact on the team. In any case, he could have an impact soon, given that he is starting at club level these days.

    Gouffran:
    Making the team: 20%
    Starter (within 4 years): 15%
When: This is no knock on Gouffran, only my thinking that he could be a Wiltord/Govou type who would get some starts occasionally though would not be regarded as a starter. Depth is his enemy. Not his skills.

    Cabaye:
    Making the team: 5%
    Starter (within 4 years): 5%
When: I don't dislike Cabaye, but we've been producing a ton of defensive midfielders these day, the majority of which would be better than Cabaye already, in my opinion. Cabaye I see as being a solid L1 player, but as an international? I have doubts. In any case, if it does happen, I think a year or two would suffice to see if Cabaye can make it on a higher level.

    Flamini:
    Making the team: 95%
    Starter (within 4 years): 70%
When: This isn't higher only due to the reality that we produce a lot of defensive midfielders, and that I like Toulalan quite a bit better. If Flamini does do well at Milan, though, Deschamps, who undoubtedly actually would watch Serie A, won't have difficulty calling him up at all.

    L. Diarra:
    Making the team: 100%
    Starter (within 4 years): 65%
When: Already on the team, though I like Toulalan and Flamini ahead of him. Would not be out of the question as a starter at right back.

    Re: The French National Team

Cabaye is a class player and he'll prove it as soon as he leaves the nest as Makoun or Bodmer did !

    Bodmer:
    Making the team: 50%
    Starter: 30%
Domenech still seems not convinced by the new Blanc-Ballack-Zidane. However, a player who can handle so much positions on the field could be precious on the bench, and his technical skills are what France needs !

    Cheyrou:
    Making the team: 70%
    Starter: 40%
Nor does he seem interesting in B.B. (Bruno's Brother). I don't understand, Cheyrou is a great player with every skills a great team wants, activity, defensive and offensive qualities, technique and leadership !

THE FRENCH KID FROM AUXERRE Julien Quercia
might go to Juventus there trying to bank on him like MICHEL PLATINI like they did in the 80's

i am thinking this is a rumour! now? right?!!

i think toulalan is a lock at DM, until the next euros, at least, because diarra blew it by requesting a xfer out of arsenal.

i know its a very long time but i can see this lineup at euro 2012.

    ben arfa-----benzema-----ribery
    --------nasri---diaby-----------
    ------------toulalan-----------
    clichy---abidal---mexes---sagna
    ------------???----------------

i am leaving goalkeeper blank cause like other posters have mentioned you cant really tell until a keeper has played in the CL. (gomes-tottenham of course the exception to the rule;) )

i really like janot, and he was right on the cusp of a callup a couple of years ago, but right now he's the backup at ASSE. at 31 he's not exactly the future.

pelé was on the bench behind mananda for tunisia when lloris got the call for france-germany with the éspoirs.

Hey, I know many of you are wondering if I went away, but I've only been boycotting due to Domenech getting retained, which I had been expecting, though was angry about anyway.

What I write below is about both the present and the auspicious years ahead.

    Henry - Benzema
    Ben Arfa - Ribéry
    Vieira - Toulalan
    Clichy - Mexès - Gallas - Sagna
    Mandanda/Lloris (I can't decide)

    Saivet - Anelka
    Nasri - Gourcuff - Obertan
    Flamini
    Abidal - Sakho - Saunier - L. Diarra
    Mandanda/Lloris

    N'Gog - Gomis
    Ménez - Feghouli - Rémy
    Matuidi
    Traoré - Nestor - Situ - Bocaly
    Boucher

I know, it's not very well organized, but I very much like our attacking options, whereas we are strong in very many other areas as well, especially goalkeeper and left back, where we have more depth than anybody.

As for what I think about some of those who have been mentioned, well, here's a brief summary:

Quercia: Interesting but I'd take anybody I've typed above as better than him. Quercia has been called into U-21, but has not been able to establish himself as anyting more than a fringe at best.

Cabaye: I admit Cabaye's done well, but I believe that his physique really goes against him. Well, one can argue Matuidi is the same, but he posseses way more athleticism, while he has been able to dominate games more easily. Chantôme I even like a bit better than Cabaye as he is more physically capable as well.

While I am glad that we have great potential up front and in midfield. My main concern is defense. IMO Sagna looks to be the only decent defender we have for the future.

D'oh! That reminds me, I should put Kakuta in there somewhere, in instead of Rémy, I'm not certain. We actually have really very defenders in the years ahead, such as Sakho, Armand Traoré, Saunier, Situ, Hélan and others, though the majority of those (Sakho and Armand Traoré if they continue to improve will have a shot) would not be experienced enough by the World Cup in South Africa.

And buddy, how about Clichy, wouldn't he be one for the future as well if Sagna is one? Mexès is actually only a year removed as well, compared to Sagna.
