Thats right im bringing the Yanks Abroad pestilence over here. But the proposition in our case.....actually makes sense. We need help with possession in the center of the park. He can give us that. This kid has been rejected by Aris, Monaco, Beleneses, and just now Sion. A mid table SWISS side would not sign him on. thats pretty much the equivalent of being rejected by the fat chick at the club with a herpe blister on her lip. We have that top allocation spot. We HAVE to be working the phone at this point. Freddy is not THAT bad, he can be a solid MLS player. We can be useful to him, and he can be useful to us. We give him the chance to play the exact position he wants to play, no strings attached. At this point, with the way the season is going, I personally think its worth the risk. We need to put things into motion though.
Earthquake soccer does not value a center midfielder. He will spend the entire game watching balls flying over his head. He'll end up in the doghouse while the coach and GM make excuses why he doesn't play (he's too slow, he's too small, he's not a good enough tackler, ect) Seriously, Freddy Adu would not transform this team. He would not be given the chance.
Even if Freddy got the ball in the midfield, who would he provide service to? RJ? Sealy? Glen? I just don't think we have anyone that would be able to finish the chances except maybe Wondo. This is more than a one person job. This is going to take 3-4 really solid players to change (mids, right back, forward). The good news is that change would mean being a good playoff team. The bad news is that I doubt it will happen.
I have to admit if he ripped up his fatty benfica contract and signed for us for like $200,000k he would be king. But it ain't gonna happen!!!
If Freddy Adu came back here with a chip on his shoulder - with something to prove - yes I want him. I'm not certain of that though, so would go with a Kamani Hill instead.
Freddie would be the perfect replacement for AA. Freddie is no ACM, he's more like what Glen wishes he could be or was once was.
He won't. Why would he do that? Anyway, I really don't think Adu is all that great. I mean to be cut from a Swiss or a Greek team is nothing to speak about. I mean are their leagues any better than the MLS and if so by how much? He is young and can maybe get better by being in the MLS but really, right now, I don't think Adu is the answer to the Quakes problems....
If we were to get Adu and a competent forward, I would be in seventh heaven. Unfortunately, good rock is hard to come by these days and that is nothing more than a pipe dream.
hmm... we could go after Adu and Kamani Hill... That wouldn't be a bad addition to our team at all. As someone else said, both of these guys coming from Europe and being snubbed by some teams... might just have something to prove if they come back to the States.
We could if one were a DP and one via allocation. But neither is worth DP. Otherwise we only have one #1 allocation.
Not sure if this was posted elsewhere, but there maybe an interest from Hill... http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/kamani-hill-training-hometown-club-san-jose If Hill were to sign with MLS, how would this work? Will this be through allocation, discovery, lottery?
Hill has made an appearance with the senior US national team, so he would enter the allocation process. We are top of the allocation list, so we would have the right of first refusal.
Theoretically....Zizzo had a senior nats appearance too and they put him in thru lottery. Orozco had a senior nats appearance and they put him in through allocation. Who the hell knows any more.
While it is true that Sal Zizzo did make one senior appearance with the USMNT, his case was different because he signed a Generation Adidas contract. MLS rules are never confusing. . . MLS Roster Regulations
Are the Quakes still first on the allocation list? Just how do players get themselves onto the allocation list?
I'll let you follow the link above to to read the full allocation process, but basically the list starts with expansion team/s and then follows in order of how badly you sucked in the previous season. The top three on the list were: Philadelphia Union (Traded spot to DC who acquired Troy Perkins) New York Red Bull (Traded spot to the Union who acquired Michael Orozco) San Jose Earthquakes - now top of the list. There are two types of players who need to go through the allocation process when entering MLS, players who have played for the USMNT and players who transfered out of MLS and and are returning without a team owning their rights.
the allocation spot is a valuable thing, the thing is we NEED to take care of it this transfer window. If freddy comes back, he either plays for us, or a team trades up for him like RBNY and we proceed to pillage their squad for those rights. Id certainly take Tchani/Kanji and a first rounder for Adu. Thats why i want the guy to come back. It helps us immensely either way.
PLUS we lose it at the end of the year dropping to 3rd if we end up being the worst team in the league.
It would be a GM screw-up to not use our allocation to get a player that we intend to either use or trade to another team for a player that we could use. I think that Adu would generate ticket sales to casual fans who do not realize he is a player that never turned out as good as he was hyped. I also believe he still has potential to become a starter for the nats and his best chance at doing that is to be on an MLS team with a chip on his shoulder and something to prove to his country.
exactly, its use it or lose it. You gotta think that we are not capable of making that sort of blunder. right?.......rightt???? agree that he can AT LEAST generate more ticket revenue, and i think he can be an above average MLS player, which is exactly what we need.
Can Adu or Hill pass the ball forward or side way 70% of the time? If yes, sign them. Oh wait, you mean Yallop would not allow passing ball forward or side way...oh...
