Coming up live on DFB-TV: Sunday 11.03.2012, 2pm CET: Bayer 04 Leverkusen - FCR 2001 Duisburg Sunday 18.03.2012, 2pm CET: 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam - VfL Wolfsburg Sunday 25.03.2012, 2pm CET: VfL Wolfsburg - FCR 2001 Duisburg
Let's hope Ando won't be injured, as in Algarve (she was playing just half-matches), or this juicy program suddenly becomes way less appealing for me.
Re: Frauen-Bundesliga Fever 2012 new blog Former University of Florida player Caitlin Howard has started a blog about her experiences living and playing soccer in Germany. She plays for BV Cloppenburg in the 2nd Div Frauen Bunesliga.
Re: Frauen-Bundesliga Fever 2012 new blog And here is the link - many thanks for sharing! According to a recent interview (which looks a bit like a page from way back when the dinosaurs set up their internet), Cloppenburg coach Tanja Schulte sounds quite optimistic as far as the future of women's football in the club is concerned. She seems less convinced that the team will still squeeze past Gütersloh and make the promotion to the first league. But another season in 2nd Frauen-Bundesliga isn't the worst that could happen to them.
Following Bayer Leverkusen-Duisburg right now... Ando had a goal saved by a Bayer's DF 5-10 minutes ago or such... quiet game for the moment... In Bayer there is our old bi-coloured haired australian friend, #30 Sally Shipard... Is Bayer still in the last position of Bundesliga? Is it normal that Duisburg #3 Müller seems a little...well... "heavy" to me?
She doesn't seem to be having any problems hoofing it around the field. She's beating some of the Leverkusen Skinny Minnies on a regular basis. Her passing accuracy, on the other hand... Ando isn't having much luck today. How many attempts is that now?
I thought for a moment: "Since bi-colour hair were not enough, Shipard decided to grow some moustache? " Then I found it is some kind of strange bandage, probably for a nose hit... Edit: Lol, Smulan: we thought the same! ^__^
Ok, the history of this match is: "Will Ando ever manage to score?" I hope she can play second half and her injury won't keep her out, because this plot is quite intriguing... Edit: mmm... Seems I lost first 10 minutes of second half... Did I lose anything substantial?
Duisburg is playing badly now... At 62' Bayer wasted an incredibile chance to score... I smell things not ending well for Duisburg, if something doesn't change... Reminds me of 1-0 Frankfurt's loss vs. Freiburg...
Oh, ok. Duisburg wasted the incredible at 78' with Popp + Islacker... Not sure if they would deserve to win, although they were undoubtedly more dangerous than Leverkusen... Edit: oh, ok, 1-0 Duisburg at 85' from a Sawa-like Ando's assist to Islacker, LOL
Yes, she can also be seen in the full-match video, not only on the bench, but also at the end of the match, while she talks with Popp in the middle of the pitch. It seems like all this effort from Duisburg was just not to let opponents sail away: both Potsdam and Frankfurt won, I guess quite easily, since they are two 2-0.
They are unusually short for DFBTV and so I went to the full game to look at the HT and FT highlights. But in doing so, I saw at 45' the fracas between the Bayer #3 DF and Ando - the DF gets a yellow for throwing the ball away, and Popp has to intervene. (And actually then, looking for the highlights at FT, I see a certain Knaak was subbed out in the 89th minute - is this the u-20 star who seems to have disappeared into nowhere?) But what everyone should see is the action at 92'+ - its the same Bayer #3 DF again - how lucky she was not to get red? Yes/No ?
Yes, that's her. She didn't get as much playing time as she would have liked in Duisburg, so she joined Leverkusen, expecting to blossom, but she hasn't, not really.
Brief highlights Freiburg-Potsdam And some highlights Jena-Frankfurt Also, Essen-Bad Neuenahr (for some reason, Firefox won't play these for me properly, but the IE works)
Rechtsklick -> Seiteninformationen anzeigen -> Medien, und dort dann ganz unten das Video runterladen.
Oh! Well, I've watched it with the IE online, so it's all good, but I never knew about that function, so many thanks! (Auch wenn mein Browser Englisch mit mir spricht und ich daher erst mal suchen musste...) The Powerplay highlights from Essen are really the best. (This match, not so much. )
Huge loss for Freiburg as Swiss and Freiburg keeper Marisa Brunner has just announced her retirement with immediate effect due to a knee injury she's been struggling with for years. http://www.womensoccer.de/2012/03/14/marisa-brunner-beendet-ihre-karriere/ Wonder how Freiburg will deal with her replacement
