I've just read that Sally Shipard is going back to Australia, so she doesn't need to care much either way...
Katie Bethke is returning to the US, and Nathalie Moik is also going to the US. Johanna Elsig is going to Potsdam, and there are rumours that Kathrin Hendrich may be headed there as well (as the promised "allrounder"?) not least because her boyfriend will be playing for the local men's club.

Sorry for Shipard... she was a funny one.

And about Hendrich... well, we can't really object if she has a so strong reason to transfer... So there is a Potsdam male team? o_O Not very famous, is it?
And since the gossip is already out, who exactly this boyfriend is? :sneaky:

The club is Babelsberg (which is part of Potsdam, and known not least for its film studios); the women share their Karl-Liebknecht-Stadion with them. And for our nosy Parker, eh... blissett, the boyfriend is called Niko Opper, according to that article. ;)

News from Potsdam: the new "allrounder" for their defense and midfield is U23 international Sara Doorsoun-Khajeh from Bad Neuenahr.

Seeing as noone stepped up to the plate, I attach the fearsome canine in question.
It's not very good and I'm not in the same league as Smulan but I tried. Goddam it I tried (for all of like at least 3 or 4 mins)...

Hamburg are withdrawing their 1st and 2nd Frauen-Bundesliga teams. They need to save money, and so they're reducing financing for those sections which can't pay for themselves. :(

(I've been wanting to go to Hamburg to do some touristing and watch a league match. I guess now I'll have to go to the zoo instead. )

Was the Wolfsburg goal a justified penalty or not?
    Wolfsburg-Frankfurt highlights on DFB-TV
Apparently Goeßling said in the post-match interview during the live broadcast that she and Keßler had had a chat at half time: Keßler was going to get the penalty and Goeßling was going to take it and score. Which is exactly what happened, of course. Honi soit...?

This should also mean that only one club will be relegated. Leipzig, I would think (they're currently last, and I just can't see them doing anything else than losing against Potsdam).

This would also make way less epic Leverkusen's chase for life... :(

Little correction and additional info: They already withdraw their 2nd BL league team last season. This team currently plays in Regionalliga Nord, became 3rd this season, and it will become their first team. According to the kicker HSV will also field a team in the new founded B youth BL (for U17 girls), but pro football won't be played next season due to the finance situation of the main club as you said. :(

In Hamburg there are many interesting sites, St. Pauli district, Alster, Speicherstadt, Schanzenviertel, the harbor, the fish market, HSVs and St.-Paulis stadium and much more. So have a nice trip (and if you have enough of the city, make a trip to Bremen ;) ). :)

Am always interested in settling these matters, so, I did some freeze-frames. At first I thought No, but in the end I concluded Yes it was a valid PK. Behringer pulls her down, hand on shoulder, as she takes the shot. It is also possible there is some leg contact, but not on this angle. In any case, I dont think any player, with a DF behind and a clear shot on goal, takes a dive, even in the men's game. I bet Behringer will be glad when the season is over. Still one of the best in the Bundesliga.

No doubt about that! Let's hope she can leave a better mark on the national team next week against Rumania.

Speaking of players who haven't shown their full potential in Frankfurt recently...

When asked last weekend how he's planning to compensate for the departures of Peter, Odebrecht and Schmidt from Potsdam next season, coach Schröder replied: "We're very well positioned. Despite the three departures. And perhaps what may happen some time is that Lira Bajramaj will come back, because it's obvious that she isn't really settling in to the game in Frankfurt."

Why that remark?? o_O Speculation abounds. Is it just lingering rancour; after all he was very critical of Bajramaj leaving Potsdam and joining Frankfurt last year in the first place? Or is there something else behind it and he's really considering bringing her back? (She's still under contract in Frankfurt, of course, but contracts could be changed if everyone agreed.)

It's a slight poke at the poor combination of Bajramaj and Frankfurt. I remember reading stuff about Schroder's views on Bajramaj's transfer to Frankfurt, and I think he's just reminding people what he said about her not becoming any better if she's moving for non sporting reasons, and to be truthful right now, that explanation actually sounds really nice compared to the reality of the situation.

Personally, I don't see Bajramaj returning to Potsdam ever again, but she's been on a visible downward slope ever since she decided Frankfurt would be her next footballing destination. So even though he's known as a grumpy....... :poop:, Schroder's only highlighting the slow regression of a player who was once a very serious FIFA POTY candidate o_O.

Interesting to note: Duisburg's 2nd league team are playing a friendly against the German police national team, who are preparing for their Euros next month in Denmark. Names on the police side include: Sandra Smisek, Meike Weber (1.FFC Frankfurt), Vanessa Baudzus (SC 07 Bad Neuenahr II) Carolin Thomas (ex 1.FFC Frankfurt), Nathalie Bock (VfL Bochum).

Oh, I don't know whether that was a good idea... 1st Frauen-Bundesliga newcomer Gütersloh have signed Jena keeper Tessa Rinkes.

And this is definitely not good news: Wolfsburg defender Maren Tetzlaff, finally a regular starter this season, tore her ACL and a couple of other things in her knee during practice and will be out at least for the rest of the year.

Valeria Kleiner is leaving Frankfurt. She's been injured forever; I do hope that she will come back some time. Perhaps there is a chance that she'll go back home... to Freiburg?

Potsdam coach Schröder was asked in an interview about the departures from his team, and he explained that things occasionally needed to change. And he tells an anecdote from when Ariane Hingst was leaving the club:
Hingst: "Coach, it's time I get to see another face."
    Schröder: "You know, me too."

Worse than Kahlert. Micol, I am beginning to think that I could manage a top-flight women's team.

True. This year I think Lyon will make the final. And I completely forgot Turbine are losing Babett Peter and Schmidt to Frankfurt next year. I have no idea who is making the final on the other side. The 2013-2014 WCL should be interesting. Hopefully we can get Tyreso and Lyon final.
