I had a feeling he (Koscielny) would get the call. I'm happy for him. I'm also happy to see Mr. Menez although he was an obvious choice considering Nasri and Valbuena are injured. No Evra, no Toulalan...

    from an OL viewpoint:

i felt a toulalan callup would still be iffy, he hasn't yet shown his old form though he's getting there. bafé gomis definitely deserves it more than rémy but above all more than hoarau with whom he's more closely comparable. blanc says about gourcuff pretty much what i feel, that he needs a message like this to boost his confidence and get him back to form. the last question is whether réveillère will get the start; probably not but he sure deserves it!

Let's see here, solid callup for the most part. Cabaye, got in, which is good. Diaby is questionable but he probably wont play. Menez gets another shot, will probably play were Nasri does. Hey Kos got in! That's great, he has been playing some quality football for the Arsenal. Don't know why Hoarau keeps getting in, he seems a limited striker at this level. Maybe it's because RMA2N mentioned him in his PSG song....it must have gotten stuck in Blanc's head. As for StarrMatts concerns: Perhaps Ruffier should have gotten in but I generally don't concern myself with the keeper situation, as long as we've got a solid number 1, and number of french keepers could deputize if need be. Alou has played solid for us in his time with les bleus I don't see why he should be cast out. Don't know how Flams is doing, don't follow serieA. Toulalan is still out of sorts, and this is coming from an OL man. I have no qualms seeing him left of this teamsheet. Don't know why Remy is in, but I know why Trez isn't. He's past it. Yea 9 goals in 16 for Hercules is a great strike rate but the man is 33 years old, his time with the national team is over. We are looking to gel a squad for 2012 and beyond. We don't need Trez. As for the Arsenal fullbacks...I don't know why you hate them so much. Sagna is an excellent defender, most consistent at Arsenal, who can play CB in a pinch if need be. Only fault you can say to his game is he's not much going forward. But he's a DEFENDER, and he's been adding a bit to his game there this year too. I was down on Clichy for a while too, but in the last few months he's has really taken his game to another level and is playing well now.

The only new picked player for a FRIENDLY is Koscielny.

    I predict:

    -------------------------Benzema------------------------
    Malouda-----------------Gourcuff-------------------somebody, can't say exactly who
    --------------A.Diarra------------M'Vila-------------
    Clichy---------Rami-------------Mexes-----------Sagna
    --------------------------Lloris

    Well....i don't see anything new
Cabaye and Reveillere are in the list but probably they won't play, Menez maybe will play but it's not sure.

Good call up.Toulalan and Lass should have got a call but i't's okay since Mr.Blanc want to try the new members of the team. Defense call up is great and the same for the midfield. If he is going to use more than one attacker at once then it wont be a good combination.I think he will use 4-2-3-1 or even 4-3-3.Here are the line ups that I think will play:

    --------------Benzema------------

    ---Malouda----Gourcuff----Menez---

    ----------A.Diarra---M'Vila----------

    ----Clichy---Mexes----Rami---Rev.----

    -------------------Lloris---------------

I would also like to than you all for the updates and for all the information.Great thanks especially to Denilson70 and StarrMatthieu for being very helpful.

Remy ou Hoarau pourquoi pas Trezegoal ? to be very very fair Remy and Hoarau shouldn't even be on this list !!! Trezeguet would be great.... why?! we need his experience and hell yeah 9 goals in 16 for Hercules is good thats insane for La liga ???!!! don't you think so ?!? check out theses goals here scored on so far!

    Valence CF 1 goal
    Fc Seville 2 goals
    Villareal 1 goal
    Real Madrid 1 goal
    Real sociedad 1 goal
    Levante 1 goal
    Malaga 1 goal
    Altetico Madrid 1 goal

Blanc should give Trezeguet man the f-ing arm band for this Friendly whats the worst that could happen? he warms the bench or plays the last 15 mins
    [IMG]
doesn't he even look 33 years but yes....! he thinks like a 33 year old

Eh Maybe you're right Matt, I don't see point espeically for this friendly but I'd take a 33 year old Trezegol over Hoarau and Remy right now for my club team.

i tend to agree with matt too... heck, savidan got called just to give him a cap before he retired. trez isn't exactly in the same case but a brazil friendly as sendoff? he's deserved it. and neither remy nor hoarau have at all.

two possible reasons, both perfectly adequate in themselves: 1) because he just played about the most painful prima donna stunt in the book with ASSE 2) because since scoring 7 goals inthe first 7 matches of the season he has been perfectly useless.

Trezeguet did deserve a chance in this friendly considering his performance this year.Let's hope he get called up in other occasions.

Hmmm. With a bit of photoshop editing I'll have to put menez' head on payet and koscielny's on kaboul. Even though they're wearing the new kit, this pic must have been taken a while back.

ehhhh maybe the old geezer is right
Alex Ferguson criticises Laurent Blanc over omission of Patrice Evra

sir alex ferguson has criticised the France manager, Laurent Blanc, for omitting Patrice Evra from the squad to face Brazil on Wednesday as continued punishment for the defender's role in leading the player revolt during the World Cup."He has been punished already [with a five-game ban] and I don't see why he should be punished further unless they are saying he is not good enough," said Ferguson.
"I know he is the best left-back they have. He is one of the best left-backs in the world, I can't think of anyone who is dramatically above him. Laurent Blanc was a player here. He knows that anyone playing for Man utd is playing at the highest level."

Ferguson is trying to defend a player from his club, yet when he says that he's the best left back that France has, he's going too far. It's not only judging your player but also the players who are picked over him.

Evra only had 1 good performance against Faroe Islands in 2/3 years as starter with the national team. Evra being excluded because of his bad performances is logical. If he were playing at Sochaux everyone would have wanted him to be kicked out of the national team after 1 game.

The problem is his positioning that is horrible. Defensively, he's bad. Offensively he has no football intelligence, when he's trying to go forward, he's never doing it at the appropriate time. It's somehow like when Erding is calling the ball. :p Yet, he's supposed to be good offensively...not to mention that one of the best left back on planet earth can't cross.

Saying that Evra hasn't been picked up because of his behavior is false.

yes he wont be in WC in brazil but id pick trez over hourau. why not have a veteran proven goal scorer off the bench? also, i would have liked to seen lass & payet in the side but overall im happy with it.
very disappointed with nasri injury tho, and when can ribery come back?

I think Payet's early success has gotten to his head, his production has dropped considerably. Ribery's suspension is up too if i'm no mistaken. He's sidelined with injury right now though.

we were talking about this while warming up this morning: wenger defending fabregas, ferguson saying evra deserved to be picked... sometimes it's part of a manager's job to defend/preen his players in the press. i too think evra' was left out primarily because he's never been any good at all for france. but the knysa factor is a partial reason, and a valid one: not as a punishment but for what it showed about his character. which may in turn be an wxplanation for why he's always been so poor in bleu.

oh please, oh please can it be... NEVER? here's another one who has never been any good for us. well not never, he was good when no one knew who he was, but since he's been a 'star'. his last really good performance for france, MOTM was sidney govou!

i think so too, and it's a wonder of nature that his head could have swollen so quickly... after all, four seasons as an everyday starter, 10 goals in 126 matches coul have taught him a little humil...

christ was i ever going to say something daft! carry on!
