I am seriously thinking of going to see this one at the Stade. Are tickets easy to come by - via francebillet presumably - any other reliable ticket outlets please? One thing that does put me off travelling from Angleterre is the French and their strikes! Like no other country I can think of the French certainly take their strikes ultra seriously. The last thing wanytt to do is spend 100 Euros on a ticket and 3 - 4 times that on hotel and travel and......you know the rest!

and the thing that puts me off travelling to england is those silly bowler hats everyone wears... seriously, i don't know where the english got the stereotype of france always being on strike. statistically both the italians and germans go on strike more.

french strikes also have the advantage of being somewhat predictable. you'll almost always get one at the rentrée (beginning of september) for example. school hols are also favorite moments. paris schools go on winter break the 12th, all other zones the following weeks, so the 9th looks pretty safe.

the unexpected part? it looks like the match is already sold out. tix via fnac, carrouf' etc. started at 20€, but if you want one you'll need to pay through the nose with a broker.

not only your imagination. once at gatwick our plane home was delayed and everyone was getting furious abut the effing french and their effing strikes... completely wrong of course, but that was the prevailing kneejerk reaction.

tough luck for you: this may be the first time the SdF has sold out since the last time they beat brazil!

I will probably give it a miss and go to Stuttgart for our friendly in August. I am sure there will be no strikes there (!)

Yeah, what really annoys me is that all of England shuts down for tea time in the afternoon. Then there are the Brazilians. All slathered in cocoa butter and dancing the samba with those silly feathered hats. Wtf?

And when are France going to wear 1 to 11 when they play? Talk about living on 1998 and all that! - Henry with his 12, Barthez 16 etc. etc.

And yes, I am still bitter!

Last time I saw that was at a youth NT competition. Corchia had n°2 and so on. It was refreshing.

Now we shall first know WHO are our 11 starters.

The French definitely milked it with their numbers. Let us hope they revert to 1-11.

    Still bitter!

i don't get your gripe where france is concerned: strict 1-11 went out with the W-M. n° 12 is not that big, and henry ALWAYS wore that number, players these days tend to keep the same nummber when they can, and for those who get picked every time it's easy.

as for 16, it a traditional GK n° in france, though in the old days it was for the backup... which barthez had been not long before that WC.

another point: in a 23 man squad, the numbers are assigned at the start of the tournament, not for every match: almost impossible to do otherwise, especially since players names have appeared on the backs.

on the whole i agree with you, but have more problems with numbers like anelka's 39 (he actually wanted 93) or the horrible situation in italy, portugal, eastern europe... where it seems most players have numbers between 50 and 99. thank god that's absolutely discouraged in france both in clubs and the NT.

Just checked and this game IS a sell out. Oh well, will watch on ESPN. We owe you one (or 3 actually - 1986, 1998 and 2006 (I was at this one also)).

If anyone is going to do this game and is willing to do a favour, namely buy a programme or two for me (money up front so no risk), would they please make themselves known. It looks I won;t be able to get a ticket now. Many thanks.
